Hello, been battling with my truck for two weeks now trying to get the remote start working. It's a 2016 ram 1500 tradesman with a 3.0 eco diesel. I installed the new hood latch. Connector was already in the wiring harness. When I try the remote start is says the hood is open. In alpha the status of the hood latch switch says it's closed. Any help would be grateful

You mean the harness for the hood latch was already there? If so did you check to make sure the wiring from the harness under the fuse box goes into the truck?

I haven't looked under the fuse box yet but if alpha shows the hood is closed shouldn't it be wired in

What alpha shows and what the BCM is programmed for may not match.
Someone with alpha knowledge should be able to answer better.

It depends on the trucks but when I installed the OEM remote start for my 2018 3500 I had the wiring from the connection under the fuse box to into the cab and into the BCM but did not have the wire from the latch to the connection under the fuse box. I had to get a new latch and the wiring from the latch to the connection under the fuse box, enable settings in alpha and I was good to go. Also had to get a new rubber piece for my keyfob.

I did Not even bother trying to add in the Oem remote start to mine I found StartX it works great and only 30min or less install the online software flash takes longer than the device install its all plug and play except the online part. the whole install was great vs my last two vehicles that was hard wired and would take 4+hrs this was over and done in 30min. just hit lock button 3 times and off she goes default run time is 15min but can be changed while in the online part after software flash is done go to cofig settings and there is all kinds of settings run time being one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087W7L7DM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I figured it out. Number 11 pin in BCM was empty. Put in a wire and grounded it to body. Found out hood latch that was sent to me didn't work. Bad switch. Don't need it now.
