My remote start has worked fine for 2 years until just now. Factory unit, beeped it twice & it started up but died 10 seconds later. Wouldn't do two beeps to try again.
Open the door and display says "Remote start disengaged...System failure".
Starts up & runs fine with the key but now I have a CEL. Went to the store, came back & shut it off.
Tried remote again and same thing: 2 beeps (normal) starts up then shuts down after 10 seconds.
Any ideas?

What is the CEL code? Mine did this when the fuel pressure sensor went out. Is the truck hard starting?

If its a P018c code its a pretty easy fix. $60-90 part depending on how bad your local dealer marks up the parts. Took 20 min to replace.

I pulled a P0455 with my scantool.
"Major EVAP system leak".
I cleared the code, CEL Went out.
Took a ride, came home and remote start is working again.
Could the Vararam breather cap have thrown the code? It's been on a week now with no issues.

If it all started after that, could be.

I can’t believe no one touched on it but whatever the case may be, the remote start won’t keep the truck running if there’s a fault stored causing the check engine light to come on.

Thanks for that info, wasn't aware of that.
It's all good now so probably was the gas cap.

I had actually learned that years ago with my old pickup. Even though there probably wasn’t nothing wrong with it, I decided to one day to replace my battery because it was the original one and at the time, the truck was between five and six years old so I figured I’d go ahead and replace it now before it decide to crap out on me somewhere later on on it’s own and leave me stranded somewhere.

Well, I don’t think the battery cables were either put back on quite right, or maybe they weren’t tightened all the way down or whatever but one morning after that, I went to remote start my truck and after only running like 10 seconds it shut off and then it wouldn’t remote start after that. Found out I had a check engine light for low battery voltage or whatever it was, and once I had cleared that, my truck would go back to staying running after I remote started it.
