I recently installed the remote start on my 2014 1500 big horn. The install seemed to go fine. I programmed the key enabled the remote start and the hood latch and also reset the rf unit. The truck started twice but shut down right away and then on the third attempt the red security light began to flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I had this happen with my 2014 Express - Remote start would shutdown within 30 seconds. The check engine light was on. Ran AlfaOBD and found two faults dealing with side marker lights. Both sides are working. Cleared the faults and all is well. Check for any faults with AlfaOBD.

The faults in the rf module showed a mismatched Vin and the incorrect key. I put the old rf module back and it works on the old key just no auto start so I think that either the module is used or bad

Are you able to view remote start inhibit data in the RF module?

Also did you run the wiring from the hood latch to the bcm?

You didn’t answer my question about the wiring for the hood latch. Did you run it properly to the BCM or was there a factory connector?

Kinda having the opposite. Last weekend I programmed 2 new FOBs for my 09 with Alfa/obdmx+. Everything worked fine, drove around the block with the new fob in the ignition (originally I only had 2 keys). Parked the truck for the night, went out the next day and it cranks just fine with the aftermarket remote start (runs for the 15 minutes and shuts off like it has for years) BUT when I put the keys in (any of them) it runs for 3 seconds and shuts off. I've looked off and on all week, but I can't really find anything....haven't told the wife yet either lol since "why can't you just leave stuff the way it is" will probably be tossed around a little lol. The remote start mimics the key freq, so I'm not sure if it's the keys that have gone rogue or if there's ACTUALLY something wrong.

I installed the hood latch and ran it through the firewall and into pin 11 on the correct connector

When it starts and shuts down is there any messages displayed in the cluster? Are you able to view remote start inhibit data on the RF hub?

As soon as u turn the turn the truck to the on position the security light comes on and flashes. And when I check for error codes it gives m three mismatched Vin code, incorrect key and I did not capture the third. That is all the data I have. But I was able to put the old rf unit back in and it worked fine. So is the rf unit bad or did I miss something in alpha

Did you do the RF hub replacement procedure with alfa?

The vin and key codes have to be programmed into the new RF hub. with the factory scan tool this is done by performing the RF hub replace procedure. is there anything like that in alfa obd? Resetting is not the same thing.

Yes there is a replace/reset and that is the last step of the procedure and requires the pin.

If you had to enter the pin then that should be the correct replacement procedure. Are you able to verify the correct vin is programmed into the RF hub?
