Remote start

Had a code alarm remote start installed today. Love it and it isnt cold here today. used it a couple of times and worked great. found out while they was installing it that the fuse to the 3rd brake light was blown and that is why it wouldnt work. haha. now to install my new kenwood deck tomorrow and all will be great

I could have used it last week, had to wait for windows to defrost about every morning after work.

On another note, got the new kenwood put in and damn what a change. Sound is so clear and the subs hit harder then i have ever heard them hit!

Bad remote start in my last 6 vehicles I would not own a vehicle without it actually. First thing I always do.

For me, remote start is a must have, lol! It gets cold here, so it's nice to have one on those early 5:00am shifts. However the remote start I have now is factory and really sucks the bag haha!! I've told my fiance I want a new one for christmas about 20 times, and since he's a mechanic, i'm pretty sure i'll be getting one haha! Seriously though, it would be a sad day if I even didn't have a remote starter.

Getting one installed in the next couple of weeks myself! My father had one on his last truck and got hooked, second thing he did to his new truck was install a remote start after he installed his backflip bedcover he took off his old truck lol.

Mine worked great this morning!! supposed to have a range of 1000ft! I was more then a football field away when i started the truck, got a soda and made a visit to the john before i walked out there. was already starting to get warm.

For 200 bucks i am really happy! just wish i had remote locks on the doors, maybe i can do that later.

I have this plus 1 2way remote and 1 1 way remote. Work pretty far away (3000 ft I think) had it installed right along side factory so I can use either one.

Ill be getting a Viper installed right after Xmas. Looking forward to it.

Mine came with the factory remote. The range isn't as good as aftermarket though. Did you know that if you hold the remote to your chin when you hit the button, the range will be longer? Try it ..... it works. Also works with the garage door opener. Not sure what it does to your brain though. LOL

The place where i got mine only had code alarm remote starts. i thought about going to best buy to get a viper start but dont trust them. pretty happy with mine just doesnt start through a metal wall of a building lol.

I ended up with a bunch of Best Buy gift cards today so i guess that's where ill be getting my remote start from. Anyone else get a R.S from BB? If so what did you get and how was the experience? I'm considering compustar or viper....

Best buy will do the viper with smart start which works really well.

Well hopefully I can get something decent with upgrade potential, I don't see me getting the smart start right now as I only have about $350 in gift cards. I'm going to dropping the truck back to the dealer because I still have many issues to sort out so I don't want to lay out any more cash to get the R.S installed.

I think subscription went up a bit when I got it for my Ram and the wife's Journey it was $200 extra for the unit and $99 for three year subscription.

I was just down at BB setting up my appointment for install, I checked and they show the smart start module at $299 and then $99 for a two year subscription. I ended up with an appointment to get the Viper 4301 installed. I thought about going with the 5301 but the tech said that he was hearing complaints about the key fobs going through batteries incredibly fast. Also the cost of the unit plus install pushed the price over $450 so ill just be sticking with the 4301. One way remote is good for me as I always have line of sight of my truck even at work from my office.
