Removing chrome sticker from grille

I recently got an 01 Dodge 1500. It's a red truck and I've always liked the red and black look over the chrome. So I started peeling the sticker off my grille to get to the plastic underneath to paint black and man is it hard on your fingers. Was wondering if anyone has found a better way that doesn't involve cutting you up as you go. Thanks in advance

Hair dryer or heat gun to get the glue under the sticker tacky enough to remove
