Removing the wipers

How do I get the wipers off? The cowl/panel under the wipers is starting to crack, so I was looking at replacing it, but not sure how to get the wipers out of the way.

pop cap. remove bolt, and use overhead hoist to yank it

I used a small ball joint tool to remove the arm from the shaft
