Replace cam as preventative maintenance?

Motor oil analysis is approximately $30 an oil change. Run some good oil, Have it analyzed every other change, and if you start getting metal in your oil re evaluate. Mine is a 2005 so a different animal, but if I had a later motor I would keep an eye on it.

Oil should not be the answer to this. If approved Chrysler spec oil at the viscosity called for in the manual isn’t enough, then it’s rams fault. My wife’s old Nissan Xterra could probably run the same on Used French fry oil. I would think a dealer would try and deny a warranty claim if you had receipts for running a 5w30 non approved oil as though. Not that they should because they’d have to prove it caused the problem but when it’s a claim for an overly worn cam, they’ll probably ask why you didn’t use what is specified in the book.
