As I am knocking the dust off the plans and build of my Ram to how I have been planning to build it for about 2+ years now, I am at a crossroads of needing a new engine, Smog is and isn't an issue to a point being in CA.
I am looking at a few options and looking for infor or experience with some of the options out there for engine replacement with a performance spec in mind. Goal is about 600hp but no more than 700hp in a N/A format... don't want the weight of a forced induction as this is not a drag truck and will be more in the low end/ mid range than high end, but still needs to be capable at the high end.
I have been looking into A2Speed and Arrington engines, short blocks and long blocks.
one option

Part of this would utilize worked over heads off the 5.7L which will restrict power but still give options to sneak past the smog guy... but not sure of restriction that will be caused by 5.7L heads and intake.
2nd option

I think this is a better option for my goal since it pairs better with the 5.7L head size and capabilities, even when reworked.
3rd option would be same as other 2 just from arrington or running this short block
