Replacement Tailgate

Hope you guys can help me. I backed up into a tree and now my tailgate is smashed. I can't seem to find a replacement tailgate on ebay or anywhere online. I have a 4th generation (2011) to be exact 1500. I'm waiting to hear what dealer wants for a new one but I know it will be a lot so was hoping to pick one up online cheaper. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks!

I hate to say this but tailgates are like the number one item stolen and sold on Craigslist. Generally go for about 300 bucks and doesn't mean for sure they were stolen. But it is so easy to remove that some scumbags can't help themselves.

Try craigslist and go into the auto parts section and search dodge ram. I live in cincinnati and there are quite a few out here people have listed for sale. I'm sure you will run into one somewhere.

I did a quick search on ebay here's one obviously it's not painted the color of your truck but you can get that done.

I wouldn't buy a tailgate from anyone who called it a trunk lid just on the principalities of the matter.

There is two in your area from one guy, red or silver your choice. Gees, how did you get 2 tailgates buddy, must be some story. Anything 2009 and above should fit. I would make him an offer, no way I'd pay 600. I bet he'd take 4 but I'd start at 3.

really is a cautionary tale, guys keep those tailgates locked, too many scumbags out there. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I thought about the insurance thing and I still might do that if I can't find one. I called dealer and they want $650 just primed then I have to get it painted for a few hundred more. Looking at $1000 at least after all said and done. I do have a few junk yards that I need to check out I am just short on time to do that. I check craigslist regularly also with no luck yet. @Burla I did see that tailgate which would work, (not right color) but it is the right year and the color isn't crucial to me because I am going to put a full wrap on it. I might see if I can meet that guy in riverside for that tailgate.
