Just a quick question...if I'm replacing the MDS solenoids w/plugs do I use a MDS or non MDS rebuild set. I'm keeping the VVT timming set.

Unless you're changing the cam to a non-mds cam, you'd use the mds rebuild set.The cam lobes are differant between the non-mds lobes and the mds lobes.Guys have ran the non-mds lifters on the mds lobes, but generally it's not reconmended

sooo, if i.m getting a cam with the kit ,does one hold a performance advantage over the other. Thanks for responding. At this point i can order a MDS or NON mds kit, w/cam included. I am using plugs.

Depends on cam choice. Are you using one of the factory non-mds cams that come in the manual transmission 5.7 and 6.4 Challengers. Both cams are slightly more aggressive then the stock 5.7 mds cam, with the 6.4 cam being the most aggressive of the 2.You will need to tune any non-mds cam ,whether it's a factory or aftermarket cam. What ever you do,spring for OEM lifters, the aftermarket lifters have a $hit rep,and usually don't last

Usually you'll want a couple tune revisions to dial in a cam. I'd reconmend either a cam from Matt Fikac at Moes,or a cam kit from Ryan Hogan at FRP. For Matts cam,you can get away with the old school Diablo tuner, but Ryan tunes with HP which is the better tuning platform.Diablo is 2015 technology, and has been known to brick PCM's.At least with HP you can tweak the tune yourself,Diablo you can't do anything with it yourself.
Avoid TSP,they're cheaper then everybody else,and there's a reason they're cheaper,and it's not usually a good thing.
Once you pick out an outfit to buy your cam from, phone them and talk to them,as they'll be able to help you out more then we will, when it comes to selecting a cam for your application. Before you contact them, weigh your truck, and know what gears you have in the diff/diffs,what your budget is,and what you realistically plan to do for future mods etc. Most aftermarket cams benefit from long tube headers,so factor them into your budget if you can swing it
