We just purchased a used Jayco Jayflight 21QB. It came with an E2 round bar WDH the previous owner left on the trailer. The dealer hooked it up to our 2018 RAM 1500 and it looks pretty good. The RAM came with trailer brake controller from factory. I have the original type Goodyear tires with about 20K miles on them. The rear axle is 3.21 and tow rating is 8000 lbs. The Jayco has Goodyear Endurance 15” tires with lots of tread left. We are planning a week long trip from South Alabama to the Tulsa, OK area to visit family. It has been over 20 years since our last trailer. Today I installed the 1A-Auto tow mirrors with power folding, temp sensor, heat and puddle lamps. I also installed the factory mirror braces with factory hardware using my rivnut tool. I think this setup will serve our family of two retired cops quite well.

That ought to serve you well. We've towed our 23' box trailer quite a ways with the hemi, 3.21 and same wdh you have.

Looks like a great setup. The 1800# payload is good so you shouldn't have to worry much about loading stuff in the truck (within some reason, of course). Your truck should have no problem pulling that trailer any place you want to take it. Have fun!

For reference I pull a 29.7 Grand Design, granted I have power mods and 3.92 gears but still pulls fine, what gets you on the half tons is the wind, the WDH helps but you know it’s back there when the wind kicks up. I’d invest in some timbrens too just in case. Happy camping

Over the years, i have heard that you should travel with your fresh water tank level with just enough water to get to where your going & fill up the tanks just before you reach your destination.

It saves fuel and you can climb hills easier

I travel with empty tanks, but I don't boondock camp, so no water needed

Learn about truck and trailer weights and limits, then relax and enjoy. Make sure your tires are rated for more than the axles they are on. When loading tires close to max rating, pay attention to tire age and not just good tread.

Nice setup! I've used the e2...I found it a touch bouncy. It had worked fine on an 18 ft hybrid. With 26 ft travel trailer, I had to swap it out for the Husky 4 point WD setup. It weighed 5800# dry.

Not telling you how to run your rig but with the grey/black water tanks it could be a good idea to leave them 1/4 full when towing with CLEAN treated water to clean the sides and ‘sediment’ better and dump when you get to the site.

I understand what he was getting at, 1 gallon of water weighs 8lbs. So you can add substantial weight running with all the tanks full.

Trailer looks like new. Make sure you check every thing out on it at home, before leaving on your first trip. Repair/service on the road is near impossible to get as all the rv dealers and service companies have 1- 6 month wait times for an appointment. I have been waiting 6 weeks now to get warranty work done on my new 5th wheel. Rv'ing is a great activity.

Might want to take a look at your shank if you have not already checked the height with the trailer attached. Since you are using the system the prior owner used since their tow vehicle and yours may not be exactly the same height at the receiver.
