I traded a 2012 1500SLT in on a 13 1500 Express. I really disliked the ghetto looking 20" chrome clads, so I had them put my 17" from the SLT on.

Even though the 20"s are listed as an option o the '13's I have never seen the 17's on anything but a Tradesman.

Do they calibrate for the rims on a particular vehicle,or are they all set for 20's or all for 17,s?

My speedometer is 3 mph off. GPS claims 57 speedo says 60.

I totally agree with you, I don't prefer the 20's as well even though they do perform better on the street, which I'm sure is the reason for using them.

Do you have the same size tire as well? I thought they were calibrated for tire, maybe a false assumption on my part?

The wheel doesn't make a difference for speedo, it's the circumference of the tire. What GPS are you trusting for vehicle speed?

I have 17's on my SLT. The stock tires are a 32 inch tire. I've heard the 20 inch tires are actually 33's. Still, this should not be enough difference to change your speedo by 2-3 MPH. I would consider having the dealer re-flash you computer

I don't get the impression anything is changing his speed. Its the GPS that isn't accurate.

The dealer can recalabrate for the stock 17" size tires

Actually a 1" difference in wheels and 2-3mph change seems spot on. I'm expecting a difference of around 6mph at the 60mph range going from 33's to 35's.

GPS is known for being a little off as well. In you case it's so mine I don't think I'd worry about it IMO.

There is a 1.4" difference between the 20" wheel/tire combo and the 17" wheel/tire combo. Enough to make a speedo error. I went from 31.6" tires to 34" tires and my speedo is off by about 5mph at 60mph.

just went to a local tire/wheel dealer to get a price on 17's or 18's. He looked at a chart on his computer and told me all I could get were 20's cause that's what his program said.... used the brake caliper size as the problem..... I was pretty sure he was wrong but didn't argue

That's the problem with most places today. If they computer doesn't say something, the employees don't know squat. I'm fairly certain you can run as low as 17's on these trucks. Saw where another guy did some grinding on the calipers and got down to 16's.

The tire and rim guy you talked to is a slug. Even though I have never seen a Ram on a lot with 17" tires they are still listed as stock. 20" is an option.

Just bought the last 2013 on the local lot a few weeks ago.
2013 Ram 1500 SLT Crew Cab, v6/8Spd w/17x7 Alloy Rims.

Had a 2013 CC Express previously with 20x8 rims.
