Roof rack?

I have seen one on a Ram around my neck of the woods, first thought that came to mind was, "why". We have a bed that holds stuff, not sure if I want to put stuff on the top of my truck. JMO.

I've considered one myself for both my Tacoma and Ram to put (among other things) an oversized spare tire on but most I've found need roof rails to mount to like the below one. I suppose you could get universal door mount roof racks and then mount this to those...?

I am getting a new Laramie night edition later this month and I haul a 20' kayak. I have a hitch mounted riser rack for the end and would like a roof rack similar to my Chevy Avalanche now. Has anyone seen one? I actually have considered putting a chevy rack on the Ram, it mounts with screws, so it would work.

I am getting a new Laramie night edition later this month and I haul a 20' kayak. I have a hitch mounted riser rack for the end and would like a roof rack similar to my Chevy Avalanche now. Has anyone seen one? I actually have considered putting a chevy rack on the Ram, it mounts with screws, so it would work.

Any pics? I've been looking at racks but I was thinking of mounting it on rubber isolaters that bolt to the roof. Those goofy strap on/clamp on thuren roof rails are goofy to me. Makes you look like Greenpeace like that [emoji23]

Lol. No need to yell! It hangs over the cab so no need for the gutter mounts. Also make one that just mounts like a headache rack. I'll try harder next time

Have you tried looking at ADARAC? I am entertaining getting one, because they mount to the stake pockets and create a rail, you can slide the uprights wherever you need it and it works with a roll-up tonneau, maybe even a hard tonneau. You can leave the rail all year round and just insert the uprights when you need them. They also have lower 12" high uprights that can fit in the rail.

This post is stale, but for anyone else looking, Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 were the best bang for your buck when I bought them, compared to Thule or Yakima. Have had them about 4 years or so now with no issues. The link below to the 2014 should have pics of them.
