So I was looking into the rough country kit as my local shop deals mostly with them they gave me a pretty good quote on the kit and instal. Question is if I have bills already up front I don't need the lifted front struts correct?

Most lift kits use a spacer on top to make up the height difference (fill in the gap) since your dropping the LCA and using a longer knuckle. The lifted front struts are simply just longer struts so they eliminate the top hat spacer, not more travel just a longer lower body, like a built in lower spacer thus eliminating the top spacer. If you have Bils now and add the RC lift you’ll still use the RC top hat spacer. Some guys here say the RC lift is level right out of the box some say it’s not so you may have to adjust your Bilsteins down. Hopefully an RC owner will give you a solid answer on that.

Yea if you have bilsteins now you won’t need the rc struts. Just use the top hat spacer, don’t use the spring preload spacer and I’ve read that setting them on the 2.1 setting should be level with that set up.

My front sits 2.5" low on my rough country lift. I just got my ride height adj. bilsteins today. They will be set at 2.5" so my truck sits level, with the top hat spacer on top of the bilstein strut. Rough country is known for not sitting level. Here is my front and rear rough country 6" lift with spring isloator spacers installed.

Mine sat level right out of the box. I then added bilstiens and icon rear coil springs and got a bit more lift out of it

Mine sits level as well, he seems to be one of few to have a issue. And 5100’s don’t have a 2.5 setting.

I suggest you do a search. There are lots. I must have a chinese tape measure. Lol
Sorry i didnt read my bilstein manual, since i havent installed them yet. I will be setting mine at 2.8
If you havent bought the lift yet, I reccomend a zone lift. Nobody has unlevel problems wirh them.

Your tape measure just thinks you’re an ********. You provided one case of a dude that said his wasn’t level in a previous thread and he even stated that he didn’t use the preload spacer so that pretty much explained the whole issue..

Just took my struts out. There were 1" spacers (looked like hectagonal lub nuts) on the (3) top hat strut bolts that hold the strut in the frame.

When you’re putting the Bilsteins together don’t forget to put the flat washer under the top hat not on top, the washer prevents the shaft from breaching thru the top hat. Tighten up the top center nut good too.

Longer coil springs in the rear
Finally getting somewhere.. that is why yours sits low in the front. The rough country lifts now all use a 4” coil spring spacer for the rear to get the lift and the level look. 6” front and 4” rear like I said in a previous thread. Out of the box rough country lifts will be level now. Since yours is a lil older truck with apparently the old style lift, or someone swapped in another lift companies rear springs since I believe you said you bought it with the lift on it if I remember correctly, that is why yours sits low in the front before the bilsteins.

Thats what i was telling you before. Lol.
When i called rough country, they admitted their older 6" kits sit low in the front. I literally just installed the passenger bilstein strut now...in the rain. I had a shop compress the springs and put the spring on the bilstein.
Now at least one side sits level. Haha.
If its not raining tomorrow, I will do the drivers side.

Yea makes sense now.. it just wasn’t adding up and didn’t expect their old style to sit down so low. My old 2006 sat level so it just seemed odd to me.. yea I was wondering if you were installing those in a garage cause it’s raining pretty good here in central PA lol calling for snow tomorrow, well here at least.
