I've only seen a couple people running the s&b intake on the 6.4, anyone have any opinion on them? I just ordered mine from Moe's and it should be here Tuesday. Hopefully I can get it thrown in Thursday when it's supposed to be 60 out.
Recently bought a fiver so I'm looking for any ounce of power I can get out of her.

I had one on my 6.4 & have one on my 6.7 and really like them.

I think the biggest benefit is a smooth and increased air flow directly to the TB (on a 6.4) and increased airflow to the turbo (6.7). Couple the CAI with a freer flowing exhaust and a programmer completes the three best bang for the buck mods on the internal combustion engine, IMHO.

They are well constructed as are the filters they provide.

S&B intakes are top notch. Quality is as good as OEM and their filters are excellent. I didn't see a whole lot of performance out of it when I had mine but it was a nice intake. Definitely less restrictive than the stock intake.

I whole heartedly agree with this. I had one on my 12’ Express and now on my 15’ Cummins. And while not really a noticeable performance increase. The throttle response does seem to have improved some. And you have to love that Turbo whistle and Exhaust Brake sound increase with the Cummins.

F*** this dang intake. The install wasn't all that hard but the directions weren't the greatest. I was trying to pry off the wiring harness on the side of the factory airbox and managed to hit the radiator overflow outlet and snap it off. Hopefully the jb weld can hold long enough to get the camper to the dealer for warranty work and then deoo the ram off at the dealer (they are right accross the street from each other).

Oops. At least service was close by. Thanks for the tip. I am debating on this very intake. A completed installation pic would be awesome.

I have one, love it. I ran it for a few months with the side cover installed. Then tried it without the side cover, like it that way much better. Got some sound and about 1 mpg. I’m running the paper filter version. Been through some water too with that side cover off and didn’t have any issues.

Don't have one, but a friend did and they're very high quality, fit and finish, definitely a better quality than the Vararam. I just prefer the old school look of the Vararam myself and it works better with my mods, but you're gonna love it!

Are they making a vararam for the HD 6.4 now?

I had the vararam on my 1500 and loved it, it made a big difference for being just an intake and it didn't make the engine obnoxiously loud like this s&b is.

Yeah the S&B is one of the louder intakes. I found it kind of annoying tbh...

If you run the side cover, so it’s all closed up, it’s not much more than stock, IMHO, but removed, you do hear the engine pretty good. I don’t think it drones though. Nowhere near as loud as an open element intake or a vararam

The Vararam is actually very quiet. Only time you hear it is under WOT

That surprises me, with their design I'd have thought it would have been quiter? I'm sure putting the snorkel on makes it a lot louder too. I do know they work great though!

I second this, the vararam only barked when you opened her up. If my s&b gets too annoying I'll try the side plug. Just normal driving I love it, but pulled the fifth wheel to the shop Wednesday morning and it spends so much time in the 3000 to 4000 rpm range I was pretty sure I'd be deaf by the end of the first on ramp lol.
