S&B or Vararam. Some do not like Vararams design however it will produce better gains than any other intake.

S&B fit & finish is the best all conventional CAI perform close to the same.

I like the vararam air grabber looks bad ass and I can see why it would work hands down . No tubing to funnel through . My only thought was how much actual air would come through the top where it is mounted ?

None. It seals to the hood. The only air that comes in is from the front.

The Vararam is going to outperform the S&B, so it wouldn't be an upgrade on the performance side of things. Your Vararam filter is cleanable as well, so a $20 cleaner kit will have it looking like new again. Also, the S&B is a louder intake than the Vararam. Vararam really isn't any louder than stock because it seals off to the insulated hood liner. You will definitely hear the S&B a lot more than you will the Vararam.

I want to give a little insight on the whole 2014 S&B kit as well.

The 75-5066 that we have been selling for the past 8 months or so fits perfectly fine on all 2013-14 trucks. S&B said they had a few customers say that it was close to 1 of the AC lines, so they simply took that exact kit, put a small "dent" in the aitbox for a little extra clearance, and created a new part# for it. Supply is limited on the new kit because they are waiting for all the 75-5066 kits to sell out first. Once those sell out, they will be discontinuing the 75-5066 kit and replacing it with the 75-5078.

In the meantime, the 75-5066 will fit on all 2013 and 2014 Ram trucks without any problems at all. We have more than 100 customers running this kit already without any issues on their 2014 trucks.

I shoulda just bought the original '13 kit then.
Also thanks for giving the behind the scenes on this Matt! Anyone waiting on the '14 kits may as well go ahead and buy the '13-14.

that looks awesome! is that the #75-5078?

Did it make a difference in how your truck sounds?

it's the •SB 75-5066_Dodge Ram Cold Air Intake 2013 Hemi
just a slight difference in sound but not as loud as the KN

Matt, I also have a question, us this dent large enough to mean anything on airflow vs the '13 kit???

Not enough to cause any difference in performance. I'm really surprised that S&B even changed the kit because we have yet to see any issues at all with the 75-5066 kit on the 2013 or 2014 trucks.

My (awesome) wife got me the S&B 75-5078 CAI for Christmas, along with a PowerAid TB spacer from Airaid. I know the S&B instruction sheet says the CAI may not fit with aftermarket TB upgrades, but the S&B flexible fittings seem to have enough play to allow for the 3/4" thickness of the Airaid spacer. My primary concern is hood clearance - I can't find any clearance data on the CAI. Also, I know using both products together will slightly alter the geometry of the CAI, but I suspect it will have little (if any) impact on performance. Does anybody have the S&B CAI installed with a TB spacer? Any info on hood clearance or performance with this setup? Thanks!

It sounds like you understand the benefits of the TB spacer :p
It would be so quick to install both, put some tape sticky-side up on top of the highest point of the CAI tube and see if it contacts the underside of the hood.
IMO you have the room.

Well, I did the installation yesterday afternoon, and hood clearance is not a problem. It is close, but the S&B air tube does not touch the under-hood insulation.
Performance? I had expected a small increase in low-end torque and throttle response, but WOW! The difference "off the line" is remarkable, but the sound remains normal during cruise and light acceleration. Still too early to assess fuel mileage...

How does it sound in compare to your stock air box?
