What is a good low budget bi directional scan tool for a Ram truck with the Cummins engine?
I’m looking for one that will work with an iPhone. I know I will have to get a bypass cable to change things since my truck is a 2018.

If all you plan to use it in is a Chrysler product, AlfaOBD and a OBD Link MX+ is the best bang for the buck. No sure if it works with Apple, but you can get an obsolete android phone or tablet for almost nothing. It doesn't even need a simcard installed to run AlfaOBD.

If you you need to work on other stuff too, the Thinkscan 689bt is a good unit, free updates forever and reasonably priced.

I have AlfaOBD, the OBD Link MX+ and also an Innova 7111 scan tool.

The Innova works great and can do pretty much anything I anticipate ever needing. I got the Innova for a steal used, on eBay. If buying new, the Thinkscan 689bt is probably a better deal.
