Why do I get a "serv 4wd" light on my dash sometimes when I am getting on it hard? Is it from it trying to spin? It only does it at the top of first gear. Not off the line. It isnt very often but happens occasionally. Anyone elses trucks do this?

I would try driving around slow in 4wd first for a minute before getting on it, give the transfer case oil a minute to warm up. See if it still happens. Which 4wd, low or high, or both? I would bet if you take it in there will be something Ram will through at it to fix it. even though there probably is nothing technically wrong with the 4wd except a sensor or something simple.

I'm sorry I wasn't specific. It does it in 2wd not 4wd. I use my 4wd occasionally and when I don't use it I will periodically kick it in on gravel roads etc for a little while to make sure the oil is circulated etc. But this issue only happens when accelerating to get out in traffic and so on. And not always when the truck is cool, sometimes after it has been driven for a while.

I can't say for sure, but throttle bodies affect a particular 4wd sensor. I've just been through this experience, as my TB had an issue and signaled a "SERV 4WD" dash message. And since one must WOT the throttle body to accelerate to get out of traffic, I would venture a guess that this is the cause.

Again, I'm sure it's just a sensor, but the fact that it only happens when you gun it makes me question the intake or manifold portion of the engine, based on my recent experience.

I do have a 85 mm ported throttle body from Moe's. So maybe it has something to do with that. It has no ill affects that I can see but was just curious. Thought I'd give it a shot here before thumbing thru thousands of google posts lol. Thanks guys.
