Started truck yesterday morning and my antilock brake light and traction control light stayed on with the message service trail brake system and antilock brake system. Truck is a 2015 with 61,000. I managed to get rid of both messages with the 2 brake and gaspetal method but they come back on. Code reader shows no codes to delete. Do how do I get the lights to go off? Thanks

Could be rear wheel speed sensors, cheap fix but it didn't fix mine. Or it could be what I have going on...
Took it to the dealership and they replaced the outer half of the ABS control module, $780.00. Didn't fix it. Came back and said they needed to replace the half of the module that is connected to the truck, left side wheel well in the engine bay and hub sensor for an additional $2300.00. When they said that I left to get a 2nd opinion but haven't yet.

Also since then a couple times I've had both speedo's stop registering any speed. I read that could also be related to the ABS control module and moisture. After talking to and showing the quote from the dealership to a mechanic friend but not having him look at it or diagnose anything he said the hourly rate the dealership was charging was 3-4x higher than average and the price for the ABS unit was quite a bit higher than Chrysler's listed price. I've just chosen not to use that dealership ever again but I am afraid they may have been right on what part is causing the problem.

I wish you luck.

You need to get the codes retrieved with a proper scan tool that can read ABS and communication faults. Most cheap code readers can only retrieve P codes.

There’s a lot of reasons why those lights would come on. They will go out once the problem is fixed.

Hi michael432,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are unable to determine the cause of this concern based on advice provided here, I kindly recommend connecting with your local Ram dealer as they are in the best position to assist. Our team is available via private message if you are in need of any assistance with that process.

Make sure there is brake fluid in the master cylinder. A generic code reader usually does not pick up ABS codes unless it is a federal code. ABS and brake codes usually erase themselves on every key off until the event happens again. If they come back on do not turn the key off and check again for codes if the scanner will read ABS. Let us know what happens. :)
