Sliders?

The Maples look good although I ordered the White Knuckles in .188 Dom w/ the diamond bed step. California isn't exactly America anymore to me but the WK's I suppose are made in America.

I was wondering if these would work with the amp steps. Did you have to remove the steps to install the sliders? Ive wanted to have the sliders and step set up for a while now. Nice to know they work together! Any pics you could share?

He installed the AMP steps the week before. We had to file about 1/4”x1” section of the Sliders at the pinch weld to clear the step movement. YMMV. We did remove the motor from each step to make it easy move things around to get drill holes and tighten bolts. No big.

This is awesome! Love my AMP steps and now being able to add sliders is icing on the cake.

Question is, though, do the steps actually tuck up above the sliders.... or are the sliders useless?

The sliders are bolted through the pinch weld, and riveted through the door jam. They easily take the full weight of the truck without issue, and create a very strong rocker. The AMP steps tuck up behind the pinch weld.

The pinch weld would be the first spot of impact, and we used a floor jack during install to try and make the slider suck up a bit. It barely moved at all. I'm talking 1/8 of an inch at the very most. This was before any pinch weld bolts were installed, just riveted in the door jam.

I don't know about anyone else, but these are insurance for wheeling. I'm not trying to build an exo caged rock crawler. Just making improvements to prevent REAL damage. I've also had welded on frame sliders (Tacoma). I didn't like the form factor of them being too high to be a step, and always in the way getting in/out. This is worlds better.

What if someone wants the best from all three of these suppliers?
Full step, no loss in ground clearance, but not tucked up tight to not be able to use as a step, fender to fender protection, full plate, and the thickest metal used of all three. Can all that be achieved in one slider...

....It can if you have the ability and the equipment.
I made my own. Then tested it with my high lift jack.
Here are a few pictures of my project I started this weekend. I am still going to Diamond plate it to match my cover but for now I coated it with a bed liner coating.

I prefer the step. I have my factory tubs off for a week and I did not realize how tall the truck is still I’m pulling on the grab handle will complete dependence that it can hold my 200lb butt.
My kids and wife could not get in without crawling in, so we use the wife’s SUV for all family outings last week. And when I get my 37s” in that 2” inches over OEM tires would make it all the harder with out the step.

Using 3x3 angle iron as my base, I can go straight to the frame with 2x2 tubing if I want to for more protection and other skids to protect my air tanks. The clearance on these sliders is slightly higher then my fuel tank skids so I don’t lose any clearance.

Still working on them but currently I have them bolted through the pinch weld using (6) 9/16 grade 8 bolts through the factory holes where my tube steps were bolted.
I took it a step farther then one supplier and I sandwiched the pinch weld with 3/8” plate on both sides.

I might put more bolts or just weld it in place. I’m still uncertain. I have already tested by letting an employee jump up and down on the rear end of the slider and he weighs 280lbs and I use a jack and lifted the front of truck. Holy cow our trucks are very heavy and have a lot of flex. I had to put all my 190lbs into the hi-lift jack handle to get the front tire off the ground.
