From research I have found the culprit is most likely the ESIM Leak Detection Pump or the EVAP Purge Solenoid. I had a smoke test done and they said nothing came back leaking and he said the computer stored a crazy high back pressure in the tank which is what triggered the evap leak codes.

He cleared the codes and I went on a trip put a couple thousand miles on it without anything coming back on. This morning I had accelerated hard merging into traffic and it kicked the gas cap light on.

Any reason hard acceleration would be what causes the small evap leak detection? I hate to go just changing parts so with my issues anyone have an idea of where to go to first? Already changed the gas cap.. A little irritated this all happened less than 1k miles out of warranty. Could probably ***** and moan to get the dealership/FCA to cover work but really dont care to deal with them.

Back pressure meaning positive or negative pressure?

I would think if the purge solenoid was leaking by, it could pull a vac on the tank at low throttle and potentially push air into the tank at near WOT.

Could also be a failing pressure sensor? Dunno. Just guessing.

Negative pressure. I think i recall like 4 thousand psi.

When they did the smoke test nothing showed as leaking so that what i wasnt sure about if its not leaking whats the best possible first step.

Following this.. I’m having the same issue right now. 2014 Ram bighorn 5.7. Gas cap light message. Dealer said they found a leaking evap integrity module... and bad pressure sensor. I turned down the 750.00 work and still driving with it. I also found a plug on the gas tank unplugged hope that is the issue. I reset the codes and hope they don’t come back.

Charcoal from the canister getting into the lines maybe? Have had an evap issue that has gotten worse over time on my 2014 and I suspect my canister is the culprit. Have checked everything else and all looks good.
