So this is only happened one time and I put it in park and put it back in reverse and it was fine. This was five months ago. Get in my truck yesterday and all I have is black wavy lines which did not go away when going from park to reverse. I did get a notification that I could upgrade my u connect. Don’t know what change from one day to the next any suggestions?

Check the tailgate connector to see if it's loose/separating. You might also want to pull the access panel and check the camera connector also.

Is it raining or did you take the truck through a car wash recently? Not sure if the problem 5 months ago is related or not, but I had one on my 2014 die after a car wash. Seems the high pressure jets got water into it.

My 2016 did this a few times and I took it in even though it didnt always look scrambled. They hooked it up and could see the codes it was throwing. Said it was from moisture getting into the camera and they replaced it under the factory warranty

I have learned to live with it when mine does it.
Have had it checked many times when I was under the factory warranty.
I like using mirrors anyway.
as someone else said, moisture or loose connection is what I would check.

I've had similar issues with my Ram truck and Charger.Issues cleared the next time I started my vehicle. This happens every so often but it seems a re-start solves the problem

Mine does this occasionally.
I can always clear it by opening and closing the tailgate.
I assume it's a connection issue.
Many have pulled the connector at the base of the tailgate, cleaned the pins gently with a brush, and re-connected with a bit of added dielectric grease to prevent further corrosion.
If that fails, hopefully you're covered by warranty.
I doubt it's a uconnect issue, more likely a connection or camera issue.
