Soft topper questions

hey you guys that have a soft topper. Couple questions. I want a shell primarily for camping. Don’t want the tent style we have a tent just want a camper shell. Problem is I use my bed a lot and a camper shell would be very bulky to take on and off. That said I go off-roading A LOT and Arizona has serious brush and trees I go through and am afraid it would tear the soft topper. So. How strong are they? Also how quickly do they set up. I’m thinking have it in the bed when I know I’m going out and just install it when I’m parking for the night. Any input on this thing would be great. See attached pic for scratches and you’ll see why I am curious about tearing it lol.

They are just like a Jeep Soft top, pretty rugged, and you can fold it forward onto itself on the front of the bed. No need to just keep it in the bed, just install it, and fold it forward.

I wouldn’t worry about that type of brush, I live in NM and we have the same kind of landscape. It’s held up well here both out in the desert and up in the mountains. Be hit some pretty gnarly branches and Bushes that drug along the side of it. The direct impact stuff is what I would worry about.

As for set up, it takes about 8 minutes to put it on from completely off. About 5 minutes to take it completely off. And if you are just unfolding it or folding it forwards I would say less than 5 minutes.

Also, mine stays on 90-95% of the time and we see some 60-70 mph winds here where I live and it’s never had an issue.

It really is, my 5’3” wife can take it on and off our 2500, although there is one scratch from the first time she did it that I have to buff out......LoL

That’s good to know. My wife is as she says 5’3..... more like 5’2. When it’s folded back does it sit against the window? Would a inside the box tool chest still work?

It will fold up against the front of the bed, but not rest against the window. It kind of rolls forward and will sit on that front rail.



That black thing that’s really dirty in the picture is the boot you can get to cover it when it’s filed forward, or when it’s off.
