No problem! :waytogo:

The sides and the back (by the tailgate) can be rolled up and secured (the straps and clips are stitched into the top). If you look at the pics in the first post you can see the straps hanging down. The top section is attached to the aluminum frame with nylon velcro straps. Not sure I would drive on the highway like that but toolin around town should be ok. You will see what I mean if you get one.

This is exactly what I want for my 16. Some place to keep my dogs out of the rain and weather. Hope it's still holding up if you have it!

It is holding up really well. I had it on this week when we took the camper to the beach for spring break. It rained the whole way there and through the night and everything was bone dry when unloaded the next morning.

I wanted a hard shell camper top, but I dont want to "lose" my truck. I like the bestop because it has the windows, but after reading the reviews it seems the softopper might be a better option. Does softopper account for the taper of the bed? I read that is an issues with the bestop.

The rails that mount on top of the bedsides is located off the inside lip of the bedside with the clamps. but I'm not sure if that answers your question...

I pulled the trigger and ordered me one last night. I gotta say their customer service is great. I traded messages back and fourth asking questions, they sent me different pictures of red trucks so I could get an idea of how it would look on mine. I'll have to wait till I get back in August to install it along with the pile of parts im stock piling hahaha.

Pulling the trigger

Thanks for the great write up. I think i'm going to pull the trigger on this. I planned on getting a Leer or ARE shell but I like how my truck looks without it and would really rather have a tonneau cover and don't want to store a heavy, huge shell when it's not in use.

The problem is I have a 110 lbs dog and don't want her in the cab so my plan is to buy a nice crate for her and tie that down. In inclement weather or longer trips, use the softopper for keeping her dry/warm and a larger load of gear.

The coolest part is I can buy the tonneau, softopper and dog crate all for less than a pricey shell.

Sometimes when i see pics of these though, they look a little small around the edges of the bed like it's 2" too small all around. Do you feel like that as well or do you get used to how it looks?

Thanks!

Thanks man!! I do wish it matched up a little better but honestly I have never been too concerned about the looks, this was a functional purchase and it has not disappointed. They recently updated the design and it fits the bed and cab much better than mine does. I would like to replace mine for the newer model at some point but it won't be any time soon as it is still in perfect shape.

Hey man! I forgot you were on this forum. Feel free to throw up a pic of your truck if you want.

Don't mind that back corner I had to adjust the snaps a little after the top had a few days to stretch.

I'm glad this thread popped up. I don't want a fiberglass topper but I need something for duck season to keep my waders, decoys, storage boxes, etc. dry and covered. I like the softopper and that it does not have plastic windows. One question we all have is how long does it last. Well, after 2 years, it seems to be serving the owner well. Will be ordering one soon!

Thanks to the OP for posting the install pics and for the regular updates.

Thanks man! Just to be clear, it has not been mounted on my truck the whole 3 years I have had it. probably only 15-20% of the time. Most of it's life has been spent in the shop or garage. but yeah... I ordered new spring clips last year because the originals started rusting a little but haven't had to put them on yet. This thing is well built to say the least :favorites13:

I brought a used softopper yesterday and have a couple questions. How much gap between the trucks rear window did you leave?

The softopper site warns against automatic car washes. Has anyone taken theirs through one? Did it damage the top?29ff266152808f7539ea90fc050851fd.jpg175816aac958ff8f8ede5f5d315ea37b.jpg

That looks like an older top as it doesn't fit the back window as close as the newer ones. I go through the spray only car washes all the time and haven't had an issue4076804ae7cdde4546fefbd7ca490b71.jpg

I have the first generation topper and yours fits just like mine does. Like @Homebrew said, the new version fits much tighter against the rear of the cab. I have had mine in an automatic car was before too without any issue.
