Someone explain this! Dealer did a switcheroo on me!

The first photo (you can see my leg partially) is the day I test drove my truck. Just look at the blower switch, the next photo is a few months down the road and I have done no modifications to the truck at that time, and look at the blower switch on it then! 7 speed on the test drive and went home with a 4!

I have since then done an RA4 swap, so I have 7 speeds now, but when it had the 4 speed blower in it, all 4 worked. And the resistor I pulled was a basic 4 speed resistor.

Side note: My truck’s build sheet also shows a Homelink garage door opener that’s also not there, I just have the normal overhead console with compass module.

Did you test drive and buy the truck on the same day? If not, after the test drive, did you and the dealer work out any numbers on paper which included the VIN of the truck you drove? Does the VIN on the signed dealer sales paperwork match the actual VIN on your truck?

I took the truck home an hour after driving it. It was the only one on the lot that color too, all the paperwork matches the VIN too.

Either there was a magic trick involved, or it definitely wasn’t the only truck they had in that color.

If the VIN lines up, were there any recalls on 2013’s for the HVAC system or something that might’ve required the dealer to remove the bezel?

Also, I might be biased...:D but nice color!

Well I bought it used with 28k on it. I guess in the time they cleaned it up, someone saw a couple things they wanted and did quick swaps. I know you can change those control heads in a mere moment with those two T20s and 4 Phillips screws. But my truck being a ‘13 shouldn’t have had a 7 speed control head anyways!

Wow strange.

Then only thing I can relate to this is I test drove an 18 Laramie and then ordered the same truck, except mine came with a different front end.

First pic is the test truck, second pic is mine. Nobody can explain why the front end is different.

It might be as simple as when the truck was traded in or bought at auction, maybe the blower fan did not work. When a service tech looked at it to fix it, they only had a 7 speed switch in stock. They ordered the correct switch and someone thought to change it before the OP left with it.

I always try to give the benefit of the doubt...

That is possible. If that was the case it didn’t show up on the Carfax report. They also had the truck on their lot for two months so plenty of time to make repairs. Still kinda threw me for a loop when I caught that today!

I think you made out with that swap! The second grille is the Longhorn grille (you have a Laramie right?)which looks better and is more desirable and an upgrade to boot.Cheers!

Ahhh. I see. Hmm. Cool!! I was surprised when I picked it up and I’m happier with my grille. It’s much nicer than the one I tested I reckon!!!

I plan to never buy from them again, I love my truck but I bought it on impulse and kinda screwed myself. The dealer is Ed Voyles CDJR in Marietta, Georgia.

Easy to see how could buy that truck on impulse. Very sharp looking. Hopefully it give you years of trouble free service.

Thanks a lot! I had a 2011 Charger 3.6l that I just wasn’t happy with. I wanted a Ram Express from the first time I saw one, all the things I wanted and a fantastic price. So my ex that I was engaged to at the time guilted me into getting the Charger and when I finally busted out of that prison I traded the Charger for the truck about 2 months later! So far I’ve put 60,000 miles on it, been to the beach about 12 times in it, I’ve regularly maintained it, and it’s been an absolutely wonderful truck! Only thing I’ve had to do is change the fuel rail pressure sensor.

Great to hear it has worked out for you. Enjoy !

That 5.7 sure is fun when you punch it.
