They name it the protest badge, proves again they don't know their market, lol. Nah you wont find none of us hemi guys in any protest in the USA for the last twenty years with maybe the exception of a rally. I'm going out on the line here, I can name the last ten major protests in the USA and I would bet 100 dollars not a single ram forum member participated?

And then, what do they "think" we are protesting, the direction of Mopar? I don't hate the badge, I hate the concept of how out of touch these idiots are. Protest badge, lol.

Here is the worst part...

The engine will be virtually identical to the previously phased-out Hemi. Combined with the mild-hybrid eTorque system—which is mandatory equipment, by the way. It makes 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

We don't want that garbage...

.
According to this. E-torque was shortest route to getting a hemi back between the frame rails due to the new electrical system, implemented under CT.

And @Burla agree 100% with you, no one wants e-torque

Meh.. I've already been spoiled with the SST SO. I can't go back to less horsepower, less torque, less throttle response, less fuel mileage, E-Torque to boot, just to hear the HEMI rumble, and sport a new badge... But I get it. I was diehard HEMI too until I got in this thing.

Whether or not the 5.7 has e-torque would make no difference in fitment, and the new canbus architecture has no bearing on that either. I never even bought Tim’s initial claim of taking 18 months to adapt the 5.7 PCM to the new Atlantis architecture. The 5.7 PCM has already been adapted to the Atlantis architecture since 2022 with the 5.7 hemi in the wagoneer, so all they needed was different tuning for the Ram. That’s why he gets to say they did an awesome job turning an 18 month project into 6 months, because it was simple.

Ford did it, perhaps Ram can. Ecoboost pretty popular. If you remember when the eco boost first dropped lots of problems, but they improved on it, something fca never did with the hemi. A 1200 dollar upcharge for a hemi, I don't know if that includes the charge for the mandatory e torque as well, or if that also is an upcharge.

From Stephan- Hemi is a 1200 dollar option over the SO.

Symbol of protest badge, hmm ok.

The Hemi is a $1200 option over the 3.6 base engine. The SO SST is a $2700 option over the base engine.

Tim himself says the hemi is a $1200 option “ABOVE the SO”. So to get the hemi, you pay the $1695 SO price over base plus the $1200 above that.
^^^ this you can fat forward to about 5:50 seconds to hear this

With the Hemi production being moved to Dundee, it's production cost have gone up. I had read in an article a while back that is the Hemi was brought back to the Ram it was going to be an upcharge over the Hurricane engine. This will probably hold true to any Dodge/Ram/Jeep products that have the Hurricane engine in them, the Hemi will be an option over it.

I like my Hemi 1500 and this is my first one, so I am not steeped in RAM and Hemi lore (except the old Hemi). But in my shaky opinion this all is developing as a confusing mess and really illustrates just how badly Stellantis really screwed the RAM pooch a few years ago. They never should have dropped the 5.7 hemi and replaced it with the turbo motors. They should have fixed the hemi and pressed on. Like the SO and RHO motors or not they have been a sales disaster. Now with all the scrambling around to re-introduce the hemi but keep the turbo motors with all the pricing being jacked around and engine availability in the various models a confusing mess, and the engine lineup lacking clarity and logic for most of the public - it reminds me of the squirrel in the middle of the road racing around in circles while my pickup is quickly bearing down on it. I don’t know if this is going to salvage their market share and sales or not. If RAM can’t demonstrate some distinct incentives to buyers like reliability, value, quality, customer service, I don’t know if the customers will be coming back. They may just end up like that flattened squirrel in the middle of the road. Just a personal observation and opinion. You can fact check it all you want, I don’t give a ****.

Car and Driver aren't saying that. It's a $1200 option, that's it.

CurBuzz doesn't mention it either.

Doesn’t matter what their reinterpretation of it is. It’s straight from the horse’s mouth that it’s $1200 on top of the SO option.
The SO isn't an option, it's the base engine. But yes, you're correct the Hemi is a $1200 "option"

Grrrrr….
I guess I don’t know of any other way to explain this without saying the same thing over and over again.
Either carefully watch the video above that has the actual CEO of Ram explaining it, or here’s a breakdown:

We will all know soon, apparently it has been a well kept secret but they are already making them, and are already taking orders. When they drop hopefully a ram forum member takes a pic of the MSRP and post it in this thread. Currently e torque is a 1450 dollar upgrade. How can ram eat that? More then the up charge for the hemi. Everything is more expensive on the hurricane I don't see how that changes either, when compared to the pentastar. I think it is a bad bet to force e torque as a mandate. That is more then 1/2 the reason why true hemi guys don't want a hurricane, super complicated features.

I see, so e torque is standard on pentastar, so mystery solved, my bad.

So all new ram 1500's will either be e torque or direct injected turbo. And if you don't buy one soon, the next reiteration will sure to have GPF like the Ford Maverick already has. Maybe it is time to consider a 2500 that may have none of this stuff? Maybe that was the plan all along. I owned this ram 15 years and counting, if I had known this might be my last vehicle, I would have bought a 2500.
