just over 60K on my truck and have to do the spark plug change on my 5.7..

I know the back ones are a PITA and have already bought the gear wrench 80546 for the job
looking at the passengers side I always see guys trying to work under the harness for the ECU
and I am wondering if it would be OK to unplug the harness to get it out of the way for the change..

as always , thanks in advance

I didn't unplug the harness, so not sure about that. I did remove my wheel wells though and couldn't have imagined doing the job without removing them. That's about all I got for tips!

You just have to unclip the harness and the hoses and you have enough room to change your sparkplugs.

yes that's what I thought looking at it but wanted to be certain.. the ecu harness clips look just like the harness on the back of the radio

Be carefull, I' m not talking about the clips on the ECU but the plastic clip situated on the bracket beside the ECU. You have to unclip the hoses too; beside the back coils and above the exhaust manifold.

I would avoid un plugging the ECU if you can. The computers on vehicles today always pull some voltage to keep the ECU on stand by. Un plugging it from power completely can cause the ECU to do a hard reset. So your truck might drive like ass for a bit.

I recall unplugging something on the passenger side when I changed mine out.

Maybe I unplugged the ECU??? Not sure.

It was mounted on the firewall and I seem to recall it was a bank of 4 wire harnesses??

Post up a pic OP and I’ll tell ya.
