Well everyone knows changing plugs in a hemi isn't easy but here's my experience... had to remove the CAI and seriously considered removing the brake booster... but a set of flexible extensions as well as a few "quick disconnect" extensions are key. Took longer than planned but truck is running smoother despite the plugs looking not that bad for almost 60k.
Definitely sore from being hunched over the engine bay for a few hours!

The HEMI plugs are easy. Compared to the side mounted V6 in my old SUV. Mine looked way worse at 60K. But I pull a trailer and crossed Canada a few times loaded to the ****...lol...

I have a 4.7 but it's very similar if not the same job, I didn't have any issues with the break booster getting in the way, I used to work on my 6.0 PSD so everything seems easier... My passenger side plug was siezed in the head so I payed to get it out

It was a pain but I gave myself time and I did it. The engine bay is just soo deep..practically under the cab and dash.

I traded in my 2012 ram for a charger and I'm happy that I can access the plugs a bit easier now...but there is no way in these new cars and trucks I'm waiting for 100k miles to replace the plugs. I'm at least taking them out, and gap checking them after 35-40k miles. And throw some anti seize on them while I'm at it.

Dang, I could do mine in 30 minutes. The trick is to drop in the socket, the extention and then the racket on top for the last two plugs under the booster. Shouldn't have to use a lot of strength to break loose, then I put on a hand ratchet on it remove it. Simple.

Also, keep them copper! Keep it stock and do it every 30K!

It took me about 3-4 hours too but I had to run and get a magnetic spark plug socket.

Like said, the engine is just way down there and if I could have aladdin magic carpet. I would be done in 10 minutes. lol

I have so much room in mine now with the hydroboost instead of the vacuum booster; it takes me 30 min from start to finish to replace the plugs now, which I do if I'm planning to run the nitrous system at the drag strip. With the vacuum booster in place it took me 45 minutes but I have a LOT of practice doing it.

I got one of those spark plug sockets...when i first dropped it in and it locked in the spark plug...either i was ****** and it was seized in there, or with enough tourque, it came out.

I had plenty of extentions to get in there, but there were times when i was trying to remove it, i swear i broke something...but i didnt. It was just really tight.

Can you imagie going 100k miles? Mine was changed at 32k miles in 4 years.

I'm gonna come in someday and watch you change them in 45 minutes , I've down a few sets so i'd have to see you do them that quick, lol. I'm guessing that doesn't include never seizing them / die-electric greasing the boots and gapping them, all that is part of a plug change in my opinion, and has to be included in the time frame, lol.

I have 2 sets of plugs already to go that I swap out and are gapped for the blower plus I've got the set of 4 step colder plugs for blower + nitrous still sitting there waiting for a new nitrous kit to go on. Preparation is key, why do it when I'm ready to put them in when I can have them waiting to go and just do the swap.

If I wasn't even in a hurry, I would do mine in under an hour for sure.

I could have the passengerside done in 20 minutes.

The front 2 on the driver side - 5 minutes.. then the last two are a bit harder.

But I also went through the fender well!! haha

Don't worry, the more you do it the faster it will become.

You're a pro at it now!

If you went through the fenderwell, that means you pulled the liner, the time to R&R the liner would have to be included.Seems to be some discrepences between what you guys figure is a plug swap and what I figure is a plug swap.My time frame for a plug swap starts from when I open the box on the plugs and start gapping them, and I don't consider the time frame on the swap done, till it's ready to drive again,so that means if you went through the wheelwell, the time it takes to R&R the liner has to be included, especially if you have to R&R mudflaps to get the liner out.It looks like you guys aren't factoring any of that time into your 1/2 hour plug swaps, but the rest of us are, lol.

30 minutes to a hour, all from the top. No prep work. Just open the garage, the hood, remove hemi hat, and have at it. Have ingredients the right technique makes the world of difference.
