I have about 30,000 hard drivin miles on my 2012 R/T. Just wondering when you guys recommend changing the plugs out?

I will be doing some work on the truck in a few days and figured it would be a great time to go ahead and knock this out. Make the job easier since im already in there. If it is something that makes sense of course.

And if so, what plugs to the gurus (not sure if I spelled that correctly) recommend? :p

Thoughts?

Thanks for any input!

I have always changed mine out in these hemis every 30-35,000 miles and always find that it was just the right time to change them. But, I idle ALOT at work, so if you are just driving urs, then it may not need it. I have always ran the coppers in the 07 model, and I got the ones for this 12 model from Matt at Moe's. The coppers were usually about 30 someodd dollars, the ones I got from Moe's were prob around $80 I think (they are factory plugs). FWIW, I checked the gap on the new ones and didn't have to adjust them at all, so I think Matt goes thru and gaps them for ya. The worst ones to change are under the brake booster in the back couple cylinders. Short extensions and patience. LOL.

I know we already talked on the phone, but the factory NGK's are the way to go.

I bought my 2010 with 91,000 miles on it and the guy I bought it from said he never changed the plugs or brake pads. I changed the plugs at about 91,500 with the NGK plugs. Surprisingly 15 of the 16 plugs didn't look bad at all. The 16th was actually broke and was a real challenge to get out, but that's a story for another thread.

Stay away from the e3's. The link from Moes is your best option, we've had several builds come in where a customer read on a forum how great the e3 was and was the root of all there tuning issues. There's to much resistance in the plug and will create havoc in any hemi product at some point in the plugs life, especially when you get into bigger mods.

If cheap copper plugs work best (tuners, vendors and the factory say so) why would we use anything else? Remember "Splitfire" plugs? I wonder if E3 is made by the same guys... Next up will be E4, E5- it will end up like shaving blades:lazer:

Yep, the factory NGKs are it!

I didn't change mine until around 86K and 13 of the 16 looked fantastic.

Haha! Yeah razors are getting ridiculous. Thats why I just use a buzzer thingy. Keeps it reasonably short and saves me a billion dollars in razors. Though I might have to try the Mach 10 when it comes out.

Wow- I completely left out my point on that reply haha
I now use a DE (dual edge) like your grandpa would have. It, the brush and lather bowl were a bit of upfront outlay but will last a lifetime and I now enjoy using $0.10 blades.
Single often gets "improved upon" but will always be there, and is sometimes superior.
