I’ve spent quite a bit of time searching through Reddit and Spotify forums, but I still haven’t found a fix for a strange issue involving Spotify, Apple Maps, and my truck’s Bluetooth system. I’m not sure whether the problem comes from Spotify itself, iOS, or the stereo in my Ram, so I’m hoping someone else has experienced the same thing.
The problem happens like this: I might listen to music through Spotify while driving one day, then the following morning use Apple Maps for navigation. Whenever Maps finishes giving spoken directions, Spotify automatically resumes playback—even though the app isn’t open on my iPhone. It doesn’t appear in the recent apps list, yet the media controls show Spotify as active.
What makes it even more frustrating is that pausing the music only works temporarily. As soon as Apple Maps speaks again and finishes its next instruction, Spotify starts playing once more. This happens repeatedly throughout the drive.
I’ve already tried several common solutions. Autoplay has been disabled in the Spotify app, the Bluetooth settings on my Ram’s stereo have been checked, and I’ve explored different playback options. I’ve also found SpotiumApp useful for organizing playlists and managing music more efficiently, but the issue still remains.
For reference, I’m using an Samsung connected to the standard Bluetooth stereo that comes with the Ram SLT. If anyone has discovered whether this behavior is caused by android,
Spotify Premium, or the truck’s infotainment system, I’d really appreciate any suggestions.
