haven’t driven the truck much the past month. Started it and it starts squealing sitting there. Put belt dressing on and no fix. I knew the ac was low on Freon so I add some and the squeal goes away. Is that a sign of a bad ac compressor?

What year is it? Is it still under warranty? How many miles on that belt?

It is a 2012 and unfortunately it’s not under warranty anymore. I’d say there’s only about 20,000 miles on the belt

Have you checked the tensioner? Does the belt seem to have play in it? If not the tensioner it could also be one of the other pulleys that may be loose or have gone bad. Might have to take the belt off and check the pulleys to see if there’s any play in them

My engine compartment has squealing, first thing when I start it after sit the night, then once it warms up or drive it couple of blocks they are gone. I have been guessing its normal.

Not normal! Its probably the belt needs some dressing or an idler pulley is going bad

Did you ever find out what this was? Reason I ask is because mine starting squealing a little bit not just on start up but all the time. It’s under warranty and they said it was the water pump pulley

Let them replace it under warranty, it will either fix the issue or it won't. If it doesn't they will have to look further to diagnose properly.

Sounds like an idler pulley, BUT guess could be water pump issue. Would have to be there to hear it, LOL... 1 thought, check your charging system and see if the volts are going down. That is a tell tale sign of either bad belt/idler pulley, at least on Ford, LMAO

But heck, since under warranty, wear that warranty out...IMHO

Mines at the dealership as we speak..... just wondering what happened in the OP situation

I was a little concerned because I have the filter relocation kit on mine but the service advisor did not even bring it up to me. My truck is also lifted with a pro comp lift and 35s. No hassle or no issues with these mods. For those that get denied warranty because of these mods it’s really just dependent on your dealership
