Dealer gave me #53032404AC and is too thick to allow the housing to close. Old element had #53032494AB and it fits. The two are supposed to be interchangeable. But the "AC" number doesn't fit, am I missing something? I can just hear the "push it down" advice already, but it's just too thick. Get out the carving knife?

Hmmm. According to some sites, 53032404AC is only for the 2018s, and 53032404AB is for 2011-2018. Maybe they made the housing a little bit deeper in 2018? I see both parts available at several sites, definitely separated. It could just be that there are a lot of AB parts leftover, but there may be more of a difference, not sure.

I would take it back to the dealer and ask for the AB part. If they claim they cannot get it, or some other excuse, try to return the filter and order the AB part off of Rock Auto. They offer the OEM Chrysler filter for just under $25 (not including shipping). If you go that route, don't forget to use one of their 5% off codes that float around the internet for anyone to use.

Not sure if any of the forum's vendors will have it, but maybe they could cut you an even better deal if so.
