So far so good will finish up in about a week or so, any advice for sealing it up? Broke a few clips opening them up, I'm thinking about some black silicone.

Id recommend ordering butyl rubber if you have any plans on opening them again down the road

I have no intentions of re-opening them, this is round 2. If these don’t work I guess it’s time to open my wallet and get some from a pro!

I'd go with the butyl. That's what I used. Very easy to work with and seals well. When I broke one of the main mounting tabs on mine I used JB Weld for plastic to repair it. Worked like a charm.

I used Black RV Silicone to seal it back up, but like said above "JB Weld" Will fix your clips.
Little hint, before you seal it back up. Heat up your plastic to the point where it is flexible and remold ALL your channels. This way your housing and lens make a tight fit together.

I've done two sets so far, (Car & Truck) and no moisture in them yet. So fingers crossed

Looking forward to see your final product! Props your doing it yourself:favorites13:

I used black rv on my wifes car first time, i had to reopen one and holy mother that was brutal, used butyl second time, used butyl on a set of quads u retrod and painted for a buddy too, and will again whenever i do my 13's, so easy to work with, less mess and great seal, and easier to reopen lol

I’ve tired with the butyl and I can’t get it to seal, I heated and then clamped it together. A few hours later the lights aren’t sealed tight and I’m able to pull them apart fairly easy. It may be because of the lack of clips and not so perefct seal I made when opening for the 2nd time.... I’m thinking of using the black silicone stuff to seal it up for good, and hoping to never have to open again. :emotions133:

Best trick ive found is once you lay the beed in the groove, throw the light back in the oven, and it does take a while to cool and harden to the point where you cant easily open it, i left em clamped for 2-3 hours

Yes this is a slight PITA, but I used butyl first, had a little leak, and ended up using clear silicone......... it worked well.

I left mine clamped overnight both times. Still managed to pop the seal on one of them anyway... lol

I heated the butyl till it was pretty soft, but evidently I don’t have clamps capable of squeezing the headlight tight enough. They seal up but I’m able to pull them apart pretty easy. Picked up a tube of black silicone and I’ll try this. I wish I would have practiced this with some cheap lights before going crazy on mine! :superhack:

I didn't even clamp mine. Just went all the way around with a pair of pliers a couple times while the butyl was still warm. No major problems so far. Passenger side is fogging up in front of the LED signals a bit since the cold weather settled in but I think it might be a vent issue.

I used a few pairs of vice grips as my clamps also werent strong enough

Get two ratchet straps, once heated and sealed back up. Strap her tight (put a towel or something over your lens so you don't scrub it too bad) and let it sit overnight.
It worked wonders for me, didn't have to mess around with clamps or vice grips :favorites13:
