Goin to look at a 2012 1500 Longhorn Crew Cab Hemi 4x4 tomorrow. Has 44.000 One Owner Miles and looks really clean.

Seemed to me I read somewhere on here to stay away from the 2012 model for some reason.
Do I need to concern myself, or what should I look for?

Other than the antique radio, and the 6 spd with floor shifter everything else looks pretty much like the 13-18 models. Please share your thoughts? Thanks

I don't know about anyone else but I would be wary of an 8 year old truck with only 44,000 miles on it. Why so few miles on it?
I thinks a Carfax report might be a good idea on this one.

2015 was a bad year because of the canbus system controls the electrical on the truck. Also I had a 2013 big horn it was a good running truck.

I bought my 2012 Outdoorsman new in '12. She currently has 40k on her. No reason to be wary of mine. I have a beater car I run back and forth to work in. Saves gas and keeps the miles off the truck. Low miles isn't always a red flag.

Bought my daughter an '01 Ford earlier this year. 140k miles. One owner. Carfax clean as a whistle. My grandmother just moved into a retirement community and can no longer drive. We are selling her 2016 Kia Optima with 14k miles. Legit vehicles with low miles are definitely out there.

I'm not personally aware of any issues with that year model, but being one owner vehicle being owned by an older man, you can pretty much guarantee that truck was very well maintained and the miles on it were easy miles, basically wasn't hot rodded. Ask seller if you can have your mechanic look at it if you have any concerns. Pretty sharp looking truck.

‘11-early ‘12s were a higher risk of cam lifter roller seizures, at least statistically reported online.

I know it’s a Hemi but, if it were a 4.7 those are pure junk.

My 2011 is 8 years old and has less than 45,000 miles.

I didn't drive an inch on 4 wheels this weekend. I was on my KTM Super Duke for over 250 miles.

I'm 58, truck is in great shape. Does that make me an old dude?

I recently bought a 12 5.7 Laramie with 76,000 miles on it. I have had it a couple of months and I'm happy with it so far. I did hear a wear ticking noise from the top of the motor when I started it the other day.

As everyone else said. Look out for the lifter tick, and manifold bolts.

Other than that. My 2012 (owned since new) is still kickin 153,000 miles later

My '12 had about 50,000 miles when I bought it. Clean carfax, all service work done by a dealer about 30 miles away.

Some people just don't drive much.

All I can tell you is my experience with my 2012. Traded it in on a 2018 in August 2018. Had 287,000 miles and other than exhaust manifold studs, like most have that break, it was flawless. I spent over 50% of the time off-road with the truck and it still looked like new when I traded it in on my 2018. Good luck with yours.

Mine is 2011 135,000 and runs very good. The dealer did replace the manifold studs when I bought it. Otherwise just tires and brakes.

2009 here with over 140k. I can tell I've got a broken manifold bolt, but still runs great. One thing I've noticed - the 09-12 seems to have less issues with add-ons - LEDs, PCs and the like.

I have a ‘12 with 57k on it and only had to replace the water pump. No complaints here!!! Routine maintenance is key.
