Just got off the phone and the sales department said will not make custom.

They make a 9.25 for earlier year with the 14 bolt because the 14 bolt is cannibalized for Jeep an Toyo rock crawlers.

Those look like they would keep the factory flow direction much better then some of the square ones. I am a little worried how it comes to a point however. I think it would be easier on the fluid, but it might not get to the sides as good as oem. No bottom drain plug?

Bottom drain plugs are convenient but not a deal breaker
Cover studs would make fluid changes quicker but then there’s another investment of a reusable gasket.

Still I would rather prefer the strength over weight ratio and also be finished with the rubber ducky plug.

Lots of late model Jeeps use the 9.25 12 bolt cover
Does anyone know what they’re using besides all the cast aluminum and chrome that’s out there ?

Does anyone have the specs on our Rear cover bolts
Size and thread pitch ?
I’m sure studs with a little extra length would be a better match to a thicker flanged cover.

Have you checked out Gale Banks videos on diff covers ? They’re on you tube, worth a look before you change yours out.

Banks covers are only for the 14 bolt pattern rears.

I don’t know about using solvent in the diff gears before changing the fluid .
In my opinion I think rigidity and strength of a cover is more important than drain back fins
I like Banks products its just there are too many cast aluminum differential covers on the market.

If you manage to break the ZF at the center section, you're gonna have more issues then a cover can cure, lol. Break pinions or axles maybe, but i've yet to see anybody actually physically break the diff housing, you'd have to be 10 ft in the air to bust the actual housing, lol.

Can anyone verify if the 9.25 ZF 12 bolt cover uses M8 X 1.25mm bolts ?

I went with a B&M diff cover and am pleased with its robustness, no it is not meant to crush boulders ,but it is stout.

I have, you aren't flexing the ZF center section with 1500 lbs in the bed.

Correct the same reason FCA suggest you use two floor jacks on each axel instead

If you use a floor jack on the rear pumpkin and the quick release is not controlled with the rear suspension under load it could smack the jack carriage and damage the pumpkin.

Motor Built and Ruff Stuff look strangely identical and it would make sense that they received these covers from an over seas supplier adding to the fact that neither Motor Built or Ruff Stuff offer custom pieces.
I would hope if either actually had welding facilities or staff,
that it would be a simple task,
but it seems they are not the actual fabricators of these products.

I looked for Iron or steel covers in the aftermarket for my truck rear diff. To my surprise couldn't find a single one. I don't do heavy rock crawling with the truck but the trails where Ive taken her out have a fair amount of rocks that will massage your rocker panels If you didn't have rock sliders and peel the lip be of factory diff covers or worst if you're not paying attention, sometimes even if you're...

I'm not sure how any of the aluminum aftermarket covers will do against those. Most seem to be square and protude further out not counting their price. I'm sure they're ok for those who need the extra fluid for heavy towing or whatever . I just needed the protection so I went with a basic diff cover guard from purple cranium. It gets the job done.

who told you the center piece is gray iron ? ive seen nothing that suggests theyre anything but some type of nodular iron.

I’m sorry I meant cast iron like in cast iron pans which are sometimes referred to as grey iron because of their color
not all cast irons are equal in ductility and are less ductile than other plate alloys
yes they are sometimes referred to as nodular iron.
