06 2500 4x4 I have replaced the entire steering from hubs to intermediate steering shaft and EVERYTHING in between, even updated the steering and box and yes track bar also. The play which is about an inch and a half either side of center on steering wheel.
Who rebuilds these columns. I have been told I have a tough one to find. Radio and Cruise with some kind of disabler? On/in wheel. I have a black fob, some have asked what color my fob is?

I am not familiar with the 3rd Generation steering mechanism,
Some one else will reply that is more familiar with it.

Some steering boxes have 2 adjustment mechanisms
1 screw is for course adjustments & is for fine tuning

If your Ram needs adjusting, there should be YouTube Videos that show how to do it

here is a video that may help

Thanks for response.
Everything is tight, no play, below the intermediate shaft. The play is in the column, above the intermediate shaft. That would be the steering column, no?
Is there just one u-joint in column for tilt wheel?

Not sure on 3rd gen but 2nd gen there is a plastic bushing at the end of the steering column (near firewall) that wears out and allows the shaft to flop around creating slack in the wheel.
If that appears tight then I'd say your next move is pull the column OR first buy a used one from a U-pull it yard and learn on that one and rebuilt it so you can just swap out the column in a day to lower the down time.

I concur. This is the plan I was developing. Finding this wheel combo - Cruise, Radio and some kind of disabler to do with key? Is proving to be difficult at best for me. Most are gray fobs, I have a black fob. I have had two different salvage yards ask me color of fob?
Any assist with this would be appreciated.
