I started to have this pulsating in my steering when going around long consistent curves. Im not sure where to start and i havent seen much on it unless im just trying to look up the identifiers for video and posts wrong. Let me know if any of you have had this happen and what i should be looking for. I linked a video to it. All the movement is the steering do that itself, i am just trying to hold it still in both turns.

Check all the ball joints and suspension bushings on the front end. Inspect the front U-joints in the axle if it's 4X4, go so far as to lift the front end off the ground and spin the wheels by hand with the wheels turned all the way in either direction.
If the above checks out, rotate the tires from front to rear, maybe a tire is separating internally.

So I just found out it does this at a complete stand still. I was parked this morning talking on the phone and was just messing around with the wheel and had it turned and it tried to jerk itself back just like in the video. Power steering pump at that point ?

If it's happening at a standstill then would probably suspect the pump more than the gearbox but either going bad are possible suspects. Any issues with the brake pedal feeling, this truck most likely has hydroboost brakes which is powered by the power steering pump.
Check the power steering fluid, possible try changing the fluid if it's the least bit discolored.

Be interested to hear what is causing this when you figure it out. Doing it while stopped is a real head scratcher.

The brakes feel fine for now. And the fluid level is normal but at the min line. Can’t remember what it was at last time I checked cause it’s been a while.

Wheels straight ahead uses the least fluid. It pushes more fluid into the system when you turn. If it is at min level, I would top up the PS fluid. Air in the system and/or low fluid will cause a pulsating or surging feeling as the pump hits air bubbles in the system. Unlike brake fluid that drops as the pads wear, PS should not change levels. Fluid level dropping indicates you have a leak somewhere, this too can allow air into the system.

Check out the new video I put a link too. In park while I was turning the wheel

Maybe a hose is going bad internally ?
Unlikely as power steering doesn't rely on retraction of the fluid under no pressure like brakes.
Air in the system or malfunctioning part more likely.

probably the first "part" to throw at it for repair would be to flush out the old fluid and replace with new. It's cheap and you'll want new fluid in the system if you have to replace the pump or gearbox.

So ended up doing a flush and it made no difference. Replaced the hydroboost since it did it at a standstill and that took care of 75% of it but still a little in the turns for some reason. Ended up doing a new gearbox and now all is good. Zero of that pulsating while at a standstill or while driving.
