So, in anticipation of getting my Ram, I am looking at head units and a few little stereo upgrades. I got Sirius Radio with my Ram, and I am looking at head units. Will I have any problem with the Sirius when I change head units? Do I have to buy the Sririus SCC1 Kit?

Sirius SCC1

Please excuse my noobness. Haven't ever dealt with Sirius before.

Yes, you change HU's, you'll have to re-up for new HU...or, like I did is add tunes, better speakers and amp, and keep factory HU.

i don't know if they do it anymore, but with my old truck i had sirius installed on the stock radio and then put in an aftermarket and they just transferred my free subscription to my new radio.

They will transfer your free 1 yr trial to an aftermarket HU for a $15 transfer fee, I just did this sunday afternoon. Also, the factory sirius antenna connector (yellow) can be unclipped from the antenna and it will plug directly into the scc1 tuner so you don't have to run a new/additional sirius antenna. eazy peazy

Thank you very much. That is almost exactly the answer I was hoping to hear.

If it makes you feel better they never asked me for a credit card so I'm not sure how they plan to get the money...

Like I said in my "2nd mod" thread my little sister is a pro installer in philly or she was until she moved home for some d-bag a couple months ago. She is a big fan of the pac modules (they were a little more $$$ than the scosche) and they offer one for steering wheel controls. They sell 3 modules but only two of them are required in most configurations (call crutchfield they know EVERYTHING) 1 for the HU and 1 for the Steering Wheel controls.

I know I have said this in every post I've made but the factory sirius antenna will work with the scc1 tuner, that was a big deal for me because sat radio is not like a nav antenna. Nav antennas have more birds to look at and can withstand a little bit of signal loss (driving under trees/buildings) with no impact on performance. The factory sirius antenna has a good location and I did not want to have to swap it out over a stupid connector.

I am glad I did it. I have the express so it seemed fitting to go aftermarket

Take a look at the clarion offerings. They have integrated bluetooth and sirius direct connect. That alone saves $200 over kenwood/pioneer as they generally want $129-$149 for bluetooth expansion kit and $50 for a cable to connect to the scc1. The new kenwoods I hear are faster but I played around with the 6990 in the shop and it was slooooooooow, that was a couple months ago so it should have finally loaded the options screen by now maybe I'll go check tomorrow.
