Cruise light on dash will come on only when the brake pedal is depressed. Let off the pedal and light goes out. Cruise does not work at all. The fact that the light comes on when pressing the on button and brake pedal depressed tells me that it is communicating with the pcm. Replaced the brake switch but no change. No codes. Checked all wiring connections and vacuum tested the system. Starting to trace wiring but hoping someone can help me isolate to where to start looking. Fuses are all good.

The brake and cruise are linked so when you step on the brake, it cancels the cruise if you have it set. Sounds to me like a ground issue possibly within the cluster itself. The cluster is a vital component to the electrical system.

What year, model, etc. is your RAM?

2003 ram 1500 slt quad cab 5.9 magnum. I have cleaned most of the grounds on the truck. Last week I had the front dashboard covers off and took the time to clean the grounds in there. Do you know where the ground for the cluster is? Your theory makes sense. Thank you!
