Hey guys, I have been on and off again pulling the trigger on a new truck. There is a current deal I am considering right now and would like some input.

Current Vehicle:
  • 2016 Ram 1500 Sport, 4x4, Crew Cab
  • 75,483km
  • Fully loaded with 3.92 gears, except for trailer brake, sunroof, air suspension, and ramboxes
  • 0% For entire loan term
  • Roughly $27,000 owing
  • Waiting on appraisal to come back but they said after tax break about $30,000

New Vehicle:

  • 2019 Ram 1500 Sport, 4x4, Crew Cab
  • 9km on dash(Brand New)
  • Fully loaded with 3.92 gears, 12" screen, level 2 equipment package, no sunroof, no air suspension, no ramboxes
  • Qualified for 2.99%
  • Price with current discounts: $49,200

I am in Canada so prices/rates reflect that. Seem's like a good deal to me, but would like to hear others opinions.

IMHO, is your current truck G2G or do U need to change out to get the current bling??? Because with your numbers, U R talking a 46K loan plus whatever to do loan. And since your truck only has 45,000 miles on it, do U need the new ride????

But yer wallet, and yer want/need. Go for what works for U.

I say 1. if it's what you want and 2. you can spend the coin do it. But imo opinion of your asking you may not meet 1 or 2. New truck prices are crazy but I work to have my truck and my toys and that's what I like to spend my money on. I also trade in every 18 months or so but I put hella miles on my cars my truck is 11 months old now just turned 40k.

My current truck is fine, no issues and I maintain it perfectly. But just like Ohio5pt7. I work hard and my vehicle/toys are what I enjoy spending my money on. I don't like travelling or spending money on things like that. Everything for me is about trucks/snowmobiles/ATV, etc

Just an update for any that are remotely curious, The dealer called me back, offered me $31,050 for my trade in, and another $1000 off new trucks list price.

Retail for the exact same truck/options/mileage within 1000km radius is $33,000-$35,000

Sounds to me you need to convince yourself not us that is a good deal. I could tell you it's the best deal ever but in reality will that make your decision?

They are giving away 19's here in Arizona. They want them on the streets so people buy them.
$18K off.

I test drove one and my buddy just got one. They are amazing. The advancements from a 4th gen to a 5th gen is huge. Trucks are cool!

It's a good deal, no doubt about that. The 5th gens are absolutely stunning compared to the 4th Gen which was nice to begin with.

You need to ask yourself what your willing to spend to have that 5th Gen. It isn't a smart financial decision, but you have to way that out.

do you still have some of the 3 yr warranty left? extended warranty? do you care? is that a factor in buying a new one. i like warranties a bunch so if i still had 3 time left i'd stick it out until it just about done. you are so close to the 2020s out for fall. but not quite there yet. i think incentives will get better.

I traded my 18 Express for a 19 Big Horn last week and I have no ragrets whatsoever. Smoother, quieter, everything is just better.

#1 thing I don't like is "keyless entry." Have to use the fob to unlock the door but I have a push button start. Annoys me every time.
