Hello all. I have a feeling this is something simple, but I have not had this with any other MT that I previously had.

So at 65k miles I put on my 4" superlift and 35" cooper stt pro tires. Now at 81k they vibrate when decelerating. Once I get around 18 mph or so they got a nasty loud vibration. No rubbing that I can see. I did rotate them once around the 73k mark. So I'm going to rotate them again this weekend.

But wanted to check and see what this might be. It rides straight and smooth. No shimmy in the steering wheel at all. Nothing abnormal anywhere else.

Thanks!

I had something very similar to what you describe happen with my Sierra 2500HD. Wheel bearing and ball joint replacement corrected the problem on it.

Second. I had to replace both on my lifted 1500. Used Timken wheel bearings and moog lower ball joints. Too many offerings to recommend one vs another but the replacements have lasted 25,000 abusive offroad and highway miles. I would say I definitely "use" my truck so it requires more maintenance. I figure in 25-50k I'll be replacing them again although next time around I hope to upgrade to the dirtking suspension.

Hmmm. I dont think it a wheel bearing or ball joint. Wouldn't i hear some clunking sounds? I can say that it appears my front right tire is cupped. Getting it looked at and will rotate that to the back to see if it goes away.

But ill be sure to check out the joints and wheel bearings to be safe. Thanks!!!

That's puzzling. I've got the 4" lift kit with the Cooper STT Pro's and have no such problems like you describe.

Let us know if you solve the issue....

You should rotate them at minimum every oil change. But it could be something else causing your issue, like others have said ball joint wheel bearing etc. when you do rotate them this weekend since its been 8k miles they will feel a little wonky for a few days. While its in the air check if you have any movement to the wheel (grab tire at 9&3 and wiggle and again at 12&6)

Thanks all. I dont recall having the truck aligned after the lift and tires. So, not sure if that could contribute. But, I am going to have my installer check the ball joints and wheel bearings. Ill find out on Saturday, and will updated after.

Really appreciate the feedback everyone!

Ya you definitely need an alignment after installing a lift kit.

I could have swore they did....but going back and checking, I am not sure they did. So, its time. Funny enough, could be the last week I drive it. Might be taking it out and trading up for a 2019 Power Wagon over the holiday.

Low speed vibration or bumping is generally tires themselves broken belts, bad tread wear etc... high speed would usually be balance issues, although not always the case. It depends on driving style and road conditions, you could smack a pothole, curb etc...and damage the tire and rim and throw a weight.

With that being said one thing with all M/T’s which people hardly ever do is rotate them more often or have them rebalanced. I would start there with a rotation and balance and make sure you pull the rears forward and flip r/f to l/r etc....
All open lug design treads will wear unevenly and they will get worse when your not rotating them enough.

MT tires need to be rotated more frequently. I do mine every 3k miles.
Yes they do. Discount tire told me to rotate my 35" BFG AT every 3000 to 5000 because they are slowly cupping too.
