im going to be adding subs to my truck and the boxes available are ( all for under the back seat ) a single 10" box .... a double 10" box .... or a double 12" box .... i was thinking about going with the double 12 box .... i love bass .. :) i dont use the storage under the back seat so losing that is not an issue. any suggestions or other info would be greatly appreciated. thanks all .... scott

I have 2 12" jbl subs under my rear seat. Sounds great, not too much bass but enough to be heard around me

I just noticed you are a 3rd gen, in my 3rd gen I had 2 10" kenwoods. Still decent sound, was enough for me, but I wanted more

with the proper subs and amp combo a single 10 could out perform dual 10, dual 12's, look into the quality and price of what your buying..

spending say 600 for a dual 12 and amp combo versus spending 600 for a high end single 10 and amp combo.

everyone prefers different music quality and we all hear differently also.

Completely agree with this^^^^
Two 12's that are starving for airspace (we have very little room in our trucks) will be blown away by two 10's in an appropriately sized box. PERIOD!
Or one 12" may be much louder in an appropriately sized box versus two starving 12's...
You need to find a sub(s) and see what their airspace requirements are, then find a box that fits the bill.
It is very safe to say that two 12's in a PORTED box is completely out of the question even though they make dual 12" ported boxes for our trucks.
Just remember, bigger isn't always better....and more of something doesn't necessarily mean it will be louder.....just more expensive.
Id search for a pair of really nice 10's and throw some good power at them...two 10's in a nice box will have enough output to force people out of your truck....since you like BASS, that's what you want
Best of luck!

Yup my point exactly. I currently have 2 kicker cvr-10's in my truck running off a kenwood kdc9105d amp (wired to 1 ohm. Subs are single 2) the amps max power at this rating is 900rms. Which I'll never see for reasons we won't get into here. And they sound way better then the dual 12 setup my brother has in his 08 2500 4 door.

All about preference and quality I want to get louder but box size and $ are restrictions. So is the wife.. Hahaha

For sure...guys stuff 12" subs under the seats with hardly any airspace and don't realize that their box is probably tuned in the 50hz+ range due to the box being too small for 12's....50hz tune makes for Very loud bass guitar/etc...which muddies up the sound....then you cant even feel the kick drum anymore....everyone should listen to a subbass tune of 28-32hz just so they know what's is perfect and appropriate subbass....

i have a standard cab with a shallow mount 10 from pioneer... i love it it sounds great but it isnt overwhelming... dont get me wrong it still shakes the cab pretty well... i would recommend it unless you are looking for a crazy hit that lterally shakes the car.. go with a 12 in dual.

i highly reccomend this setup up, since i have the shallow mount ten that only cost me $250 with box included... and 260 for 5 channel 1600 peak watt amp that puts out 300 rms watt to the sub... the sub is rated at i believe 350 rms... but IMO youll never need to hit the highest rms... unless you want to go def or rattle all the bolts in your truck apart.

There isn't enough room for dual 12's under the rear seat, unless the box is ported, and well, personally I just don't like the sound of ported/ free air vs sealed boxes.

I have dual 10's and they punch like mad. A single 12 would be the best consideration, but the dual 10's will still have a better woomp.

The optimal sized box for sealed dual 12's is pretty obscene, Kenwood used to be in excess of 2.0 ft/3 per sub for optimal range, ~30Hz. You could get away with less, but the punch of the 12 was diminished as a result. Those low low's were not obtainable, harsh bottoming/distortion was the result, so you dialed in your amp accordingly - eliminating the lower Hz range which was the reason for 12's in the first place.. I used to demo Snap - Ooops Up for 12's. Their drone was around the 20 Hz range, and my boxes would hold tune to the point of standing waves.

BUT - 10's thump really good in that small space of the Dodgy quads.

Not really sure many know what Root Mean Square actually refers to .....

My 04 ram quad cab I just have 1 10" JL sub powered by a large amp and also have upgraded speakers powered by another amp plus double din deck and ya.. anyways back on topic, my one 10 with the proper air space sounds way better than when i had 2 12"s just on my rear seat in a big box. and it still has lots of bass but great mids and highs too, believe me i love bass also but you have to be able to understand the music too.. anyway i would recommend just a good quality 10 and a good amp and upgrade the speaker system. just my $0.02

I have an 03 QC, and what I did is switch my center seat to a sub enclosure. It still looks like a seat, but I was then able to fit a 12" RF P2S in there, powered by a 300 W RMS RF Amp under my rear seat.
I like that setup. I`m not using the space under my rear seats either, It`s just I thought 2 subs was too much. As White Beauty said, Id rather save room and get a really good 12" if I want more. And I believe it would have been weird looking to just have one sub on only one side under the rear seats.
Just my own opinion. Hope that helps

Dual tens work best for under the back seats. 12s need way more airspace than an under the rear seat box has to offer. Pretty much just said what the others said lol^^

I just picked up 2 S10L7 kicker squares on trade for some stuff I no longer used. I am having problems finding a box that will fit under the rear seats for these woofers... Any suggestions? I know they are pretty deep with that big magnet, I would probably be fine with just 1. I am just wondering where to put it, them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, i've got an 04 hemi sport QC.

If you are fine with one, turn the centre console seat in the front, turn the bottom half into a box, lots have done it, sounds good and looks
