I'm not a kid anymore and don't need to see my windshield move like back in the day. I'm planning on going with some Morel Elates of the top and mid end, but for the low end I prefer JL. Is one JL AUDIO 10TW3-D4 all I would need in my truck to get some tight hard hitting bass? I've never used shallow subs before and have read a few good things about these.

Sure, one sub would be more than ample for what your looking for.

q-logic is still around? wow i havent heard of that company in like 10+ years..

personally i would do the mid in the door and the tweet either in a custom mount in the a-pillars or in the dash speaker location in the dash.

I a JL fan myself. i have always stood by their subs. Hell im using a 12w3 from 2002 in my daily driver and it still plays like it did back then. as long as the box is made to the correct air space and you use the correct power it will be plety of sound for you.

because those components are so high end i would look into bi-amping them. and not use the crossovers.

One 10 will be enough to fill your cabin nicely. I would personally choose the JL10W3V3. You have enough room for it. This is a subjective opinion, but most shallow subs leave a lot to be desired for me personally...so if I can avoid using them, I do. If it is a must, then the shallow subs do offer good subbass when space is very limited.
I agree with Baum on avoiding the q-logic stuff. I would have a hard time throwing REALLY NICE Morel Elates into a pre-made q-logic kicker pod. Best of luck

I re-purposed the stock sub box, reinforced it, deadened with dynamat and tossed in a JL 8W1. AC LC2i and a Alpine PDR-M65 amp to push it. It hits tight and clean. I'm going to say, just from my personal listening experience with it, that it hits 3x more than the stock sub, louder and a hell of a lot cleaner. Doesn't get very low, maybe mid 30's to low 40's hz cutoff. But that's fine for rock, metal, some country and some rap.

I have a PPI PCX4125 and PCX2200 from back in the day in perfect condition, but I was thinking of selling them for a few bucks and spending a little money on some Audison amps along with a bit ten to keep the factory radio. I had some CDT's and the crossovers where pretty good so I didn't bi-amp them. I was in the mindset of the same with the Morels and was planing on using the Vose AV quattro, but seeing as its been years since I've actually wanted a system I need advice from guys that have still been into it.

Unless you're emotionally attached to those PPI amps I'd sell them. They're big and cumbersome.

I've been installing for about 20 years off an on professionally. I use nothing but the Alpine digital amps any more. They're small and stay much cooler, can be mounted anywhere, and provide good, clean power.

Speakers are too subjective to ones ears. What sounds amazing to one sounds like **** to another. Personally, I run Focal.

....and that's why I want to sell them. They are nice clean amps, but they are big and bulky. the 4125 is a surfboard for sure.

Things may have changed since I last was into CA, but I was under the impression that we should always go Class A/B for components and D for subs.

What's the largest round woofer we can put in the front door? 6-3/4? would a 8 3/4, fit with some mod? I've been looking around a little and I didn't know that JL made a stealth box that fits our trucks, does anyone have any experience with it? It has two 10TW1-4.

TW1's sound good and our doors are big enough that you can fit anything you want as long as you put in the custom work.

If you look at Brad bradknobs audio build thread he put some big speakers in the doors

very interested in this! I swapped out the stock alpine sub for the pioneer that people recommend, but I could use a bit more bass. I'm not interested in giving up any space in my 2012 quad cab though. This definitely sounds like the fix for me so I can get my fix!

I'll say the box could definitely use a tad more air volume, but it hits good and clean enough for me. I tried the Pioneer swap at first, and while it sounded cleaner, it lost some thump over the stock sub.

At some point I'll build a custom fiberglass enclosure, but this is serving my needs just fine right now. Plus, when I get ready to trade the truck in I can just buy a OEM pull for cheap to slap in there.
