I know there are quite a few different folks running superchargers out there. Im just wondering if there is a place to go that I can get some real info concerning this subject. Everyone seems to have favorites, but im never really sure what differentiates these systems.

Can some of the supercharger fellas point me to some help please?

Just so you know where Im at, here are my current performance mods..

2012 Ram R/T 5.7 Hemi, 4.11LSD, 180 t-stat, Moes 87mm TB, Vararam CAI, Moroso Catch Can, E fan conversion, ARH Long Tube Headers, Magnaflow Cat-Back, Edge 2800 Stall Torque Converter, HemiFever Tune,

And Im really not looking for Crazy HP or TQ, I have other rides for that. This is my daily driver. I just really love acceleration, and would like to get a bit more out of the truck.

So thats where Im at and where I wanna go. If anyone has any advise or info they can give me, I would really appreciate it. And kind of site or books to read. I like to study as much as possible before making a decision.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could do 456's to get a bit more acceleration oomph.

As for a supercharger... I pm'ed you.

Well short of changing tires, im about maxed out on my 0-40 with solid traction. I think gears would only make it harder for me to keep traction! If I didnt have 4.11s, I would definitely get some gears. I die out after 40 though. I originally didnt want to do a supercharger, but thinking now i might. Live and learn. Haha.

If you dont want gears, the only thing that will improve acceleration is more stall along with a nice custom grind blower cam to match a SC. :D

Full circle to the meaning of my original post. :)

I just need to get some info on superchargers before popping off and buying something that I end up not being happy with. That would be a huge waste of time, effort, and money.

I guess I shouldnt have put a question mark in the thread title...:emotions33:

Well the average supercharger will increase about 100hp.

I dont know what kind of info you're looking for. Check magna charger sc and pro charger. those are the biggest names IMO.

The difference in those is that the MAG charger replaces the complete intake manifold, the pro charger mounts on to your belt system and you keep the stock intake.

OR you can go Turbo.

Well the info you gave is actually along the lines of what im looking for. Just general info really. Anything I can apply to the situation. First off, I cant find anything that says 2012 Ram when it comes to Superchargers. So thats my first question. Seems like the only difference between a 2011 and a 12 would be the ECU. But im not sure that is the case here. A tiny change could mean the difference between a supercharger mounting without modification or not. Reliability, ease of instillation, TQ and HP numbers. Are they tunable, and if so, who are some tuners that can handle the job. Just first hand knowledge from people that have superchargers on 4th gen Rams. They could say "hey stay away from....", or "make sure you dont....". Things like that. ;)

5.7 with Magnuson Supercharger 6lbs of boost
I just installed the Magnuson TVS2300 on my truck and it is a blast to drive now. I found that I like the root style supercharger better then the rest. If you go on youtube and type in superchargers types it will give you some good examples of the types of system available. I found that having the root style is good for 0-60 times because it starts making horsepower as soon as you step on the throttle. Keep in mind you need to choose gear size for the truck. If you install a supercharger you will be making a lot more horsepower and if you have a short gear you are just gonna spin when you leave. I found having the 3.55 with LSD is a great compromise for speed and MPG. I have not gone to the track yet, but I should get there in a few weeks after my vacation and get some numbers for you. I would like to try the 3.90 gear though just to see how bad it would be. Either way with the supercharger it will be a fun ride.

Any kit for the 2011's will bolt up to a 12 its the tuning. The 2012 is also a 6speed. So you will have to go with a custom tune switching your pcm to an older trucks or wait for the rippkit to come out in a little while.
Bullys performance will be offering a group buy. Also unbroken a member here has a sick truck and sc set up and is really knowledgeable about the issue. May be worth checking his threads for info.

Thanks man. Im really not gonna go nuts. I just want 0-60 power. Acceleration is my thing. :) I have 4.11 gears now, so I want to make sure and keep traction.

Thanks for the info, and your truck is niiiice.

Or use a Delphi conversion like these guys have available.
Click on the link to the Mopar mag down in the bottom corner for a better understanding of the unit

I don't think a pcm swap would work for you since you have a 2012. If you get an older one they all came with five speeds so you would have to swap valve body's also. It maybe easier to just get the unit of your liking and just have a complete custom tune written. Either way i hope this works out.

The PCM swap was needed before tuning was out for newer stuff.
Several places can tune 2012's with a blower. Arrington Performance did mine.
I sent my PCM in to them because tuning was just coming out but they can do it via other methods now. We update mine with a Trinity just like everyone else.
People need to stop spreading the false rumor that PCM swaps are necasaary...they are not.

Thanks for all the info fellas!

Unbroken, thanks for clearing that up. Ive been a bit confused. So will Arrington simply do tuning? I may have the SC already. And I do have the trinity already. Im guessing they would have a great starting point since most all my mods are very common. LTH, Cat-back, TB, CAI, TC, Electric Fan, T-stat.

Thanks again for all the help yall.

It is not necessary for the swap but a 10 pcm is easier to tune. And that's from AJ.

It may be easier but trust me, AJ can tune newer ones too.
He's worked with both my actual PCM and sent me updates to install via a Trinity.
Nobody is gonna pay for a swap when their current one can be tuned just fine.
AJ works for one of the few companies that have full access to the PCM...I'm sure that makes his life a little easier.

How's your project coming? I haven't seen any updates lately. Did I just miss them?

I'm collecting parts for a crazy build...

0-60mph? oh I can relate to that, but you'll need traction

10' Hemi RCSB Sport 4x4 3.55's
heavy-ass 305/50R20 Terra Grappler's on stock 20's (street set)

AWD launch (4-Auto) = no spinning

438_zps815605bd.jpg

Mod's:
Ground Force 2/3 drop, Fastman 85mm TB, JBA Shorties, BT Catch Can
Maggy CatBack and Y-pipe, Diablo Trinity, Jet 180º T-stat, TYC E-Fan

...oh ya

and a Ripp Supercharger 8psi kit (aprox 500whp)
Edge 2800 Torque Converter that flashes at 3300rpm now.

Still working on the tune, cant raise shift points over stock (5600) or it leans out too much
Aeromotive Stealth 340 fuel pump, water/**** kit and L&M Customs transmission to be installed
before I can put on my 28" Drag Radials/lightweight 17's (all four corners) and head back to the track.
(effective gear ratio 4.30:1)

FWIW, best NA track times were 13.89/98.5 at 2500' DA (13.4/102 corrected)

I hope to run 12's soon

Make sure you budget at least $3k for a "built" transmission!

The best part of the Ripp kit is you can DIY driveway install with basic hand tools on a weekend.

My CMR tuner wont dyno mine until I install the upgraded fuel pump he got me,
...but here's my track Bud's run (same truck/mods but a quad cab 4x4)

(run stopped just short of 500hp even though it was still climbing due to stock fuel pump running out of juice after 5600 rpm)

Ripp2_zpsa9319789.jpg

That's 200whp over stock, we paid about $4k for our kits
