Swap unlocked PCM. Truck starts then Dies.

Long story short. Did an engine swap between a 2016 and a 2017 ram 1500, both having a 5.7L engine, well immediately after doing this my 2017 ram oil pressure sensor is always reading between 97 and 101 psi even with the engine off. I swapped oil pressure sensors and it still is doing the same thing.... so I am leaning towards there being an issue with the PCM. I have another unlocked PCM so I tried to use it on my 2017 ram, it starts up immediately but then the engine dies within 2 or 3 seconds. Is the PCM vehicle specific? They both have the 5.7 and both have the 8 speed transmission and both Pcm's are unlocked.

My understanding is that the PCM is set for s specific VIN and will only work in THAT truck.

Yeah that is what my thoughts were as well but when I called diablosports they told me it would work.
I'll probably have to mail them the PCM and give them the vin # for the 2017 ram and fork out another 200$.

You can use Alfaobd to change the vin of the PCM/ECM

As long as the vin matches, it should pass the SKIM handshake. May need to clear codes if if it failed before.

No, never had to do this.

Have the PCM married to the truck and all will be good.

Do you have the tutorial on how to do this? Dealer told me this cannot be done. Bought a PCM off Ebay, its the right one but don't know exactly what year it came off of or what it had for specs.
