I seem to remember reading someone just had to hook up the wires from his aftermarket camera to two of the pins on the back of the radio, then just have the truck flashed to turn that feature on. I'll do some digging to see if I can find it again.

I keep seeing the term ‘flashed’ but no idea what that is.

Flashed = Computer memory updated/changed to accept or delete a function of the vehicle. Usually done by dealerships or aftermarket apps and OBD2 reader.

Basically, telling the trucks computer that a camera is installed so it sends the correct signal to the radio to display it on the screen. Look into AlfaOBD - the price of the app and bluetooth dongle is usually less than what the dealer charges, and down the road, if there are other things you want to change, you're all set. A lot, and I mean a lot, of info in this thread, but the first couple of posts give a good overview of what you can do. If we were closer, I'd do it for you, but Va is a little bit of a drive from Philly.

Here's the website

Worked perfect. I have to get the radio flashed to get the b/u cam to work though. I just called the dealer and they want $169 plus an appointment to do what is probably what, a 10 minute job? That’s just outrageous. That works out to labour charge of around $1k an hour.
