But but but, it would loose to walmart oil at -15 flow test, *****.

Anyhow, thanks for posting Jeff, looks like the newest amsoil resembles the older amsoil in base oil, and this is a sweet thing. Likly high moly like thier other stuff, defetly looks impressive by any standards.

I think I’m going to get one of each of the Qts and send in some VOAs. Might be worth seeing what we are starting out with.

That uoa that Jeff posted a while ago of the new formulation had over 200 ppm of Moly. Not bad.

Yeah, you aren't in negative degree weather right, so I like those. Amsoil and/or redline 0w40's aren't necessairly super class oils, too thick for that designation and the swing takes them away from something I would run except for extreme cold. I don't really prefer them, I tend to refer the 5w40 in redline it's a thing, better base oil then 10e40 redline. I'd post both 10w40 and 5w40 amsoil for discusion.

I think it’s definitely worth a discussion, it gets single digits here and a few days of negative temps, but I think 5-40 would be ok, especially since I have a block heater now.

The owners manual calls for that? Now that is very interesting, more discusion and thought should go into why they asked for that weight.

Now Wait a minute!!! But! But! But! But!

A lot of fine folks have been brainwashed into believing todays Engines were created/designed with Microscopic Bearing clearances & Nano Technology tolerances! :deal:

These THICKER viscosity oils (If Used) will cause a major catastrophic engine failure!! :happy175:

Hold On to Your Ginas!

I am though - still on the fence about engines with the VVT systems.
Even though my sons 09 5.4L had one of these systems & she was never fed the recommended 20Wt.
Mostly 10W-30 & 0W-40 and is still running with over 234K miles.
I know from the new owner though - some work was done to the VVT chain tightening guides. Cheap Plastic $hit!

He is planning - to swap out the 5.4L for a new 5.0L coyote in the near future.
These 5.0L are noisy engines - I know of 2 owners (Mustangs) who have switched oil viscositys to help with the issue.

One switched to RL-10W-30 with good success.
The other is running the Belgium made Castrol Euro 0W-40.

I know it is an OLD conversation and has been rode into the dirt many times over - but it is still some what interesting/funny to watch it brought up again & again!

Just an FYI-I've been driving one of the 5.0L coyotes for the past few days and have to say it is a GREAT engine. If it were mine and I was keeping it long term I would be using something-50 just to be sure.

Another FYI-it's in my dad's mustang. Ive driven most of the (many) corvettes he has owned and I find the mustang more fun than any of them!

We have mostly been a Ford Family for over 25yrs.
Until my Ram and my sons now GMC Z71 w/5.3L --->Very good motor!

He (Kole) my son has near future plans on splurging and buying himself a New Mustang.
Not a GT - he is going to possibly spend some serious bucks and possibly go after a supercharged model. (If they are still in production). This is a car he plans on keeping for Many Many years!

I told him he best get it done before he gets married and has kids or it probably will never happen!

I myself am some what pumped to see what he finally ends up with.
Whatever model it is - She will end up I can almost guarantee with a Cat-Back Carven Exhaust! (Amazing Sound)! A sound that would give any HP guy Wood!!

^^^ Yes Sir and a video Ride along!

Is the Super Snake model still in production?

Funny thing is: You should have seen his face when I told him - He needs to order or buy this model with the Standard - NOT the Auto!
Its the only way to truly enjoy a Car like this! :driver:

They probably don't even know how to make a standard transmission any more. :hmm:

Ah $hit Sorry ---> Back to Oil Talk! :Wedgie:

I’m always curious what everyone’s truck looks like; I think it would be cool if everybody posted a pic of their rig.
