I don't know if it's because I just been listening more or what but I've been noticing alot of GM's and Fords ticking lately. It seems the disease is spreading.

Ill say it.

Wonder if it has to do with the garbage 20 weight oil they require.

Has anyone determined if it's the MDS lifters, non MDS lifters, or does it really make difference which lifters are wiping cams? Also any difference if you have MDS permantly deactivated or just let it do its thing?

I didn't know GM required 20 wt. Could be though. We have 2 of the little Chevy cars in our delivery fleet that use 5/30, maybe the bigger engines are 5/20????

30wt / 40 wt is what I'll be running , unless the hydraulic lifter servicing holes are reduced to .0150"

Who was just posting about how we should stick with “certified” oils? That would be 20w

From what I've read Sir , the only V-8 that does not recommend a 20wt water thin less film oil is TOYOTA.....

Nope Toyota now specs 0w20 for the Tundra. Not sure about Nissan. Ford specs 5w20 in the 5.0, GM specs 0w20 in the 5.3. Gotta get that .5% fuel economy you know[emoji106]

Good LORD .....THE INDUSTRY IDIOTS ARE WINNING .....WE MUST REBALE .[emoji36][emoji36][emoji848][emoji16][emoji16][emoji106]

I know I come across as a joker , But I do believe if the general public like us do not refuss then the oil / Auto industry and government Idiocracy will ruin our beloved 250,000 to 500,000 mile PLUS automobils to a max expected life of less than 100k ... This means every 6-8 years for most AMERICANS WE WILL BE FORCED TO PURCHASE A 45K TO 65K automobile ....

I've purchased houses for less .....

Make your choice ...either hug a tree or do what is logical ..
