rick been ramless for a long while now.
Still got my 300 Mike, but i sold both the truck and 1320.Sold both for more then i had into them, figured i was nuts not to sell the 1320 ,especially after i went over to my local dealer, and checked on availibilty for common wear items like struts /radio etc,and the oddball struts and radio it used are virtually impossible to get now.
Damn @JHoward you never said a word, lol. Is the new toy a auto or 6 speed? I agree we need pics of it,lol.

Ol' Rick, I wasn't intending on trading my truck off ... however things weren't looking good.

It was sorta on a whim and opportunity that came along at the right time ...

It's an auto tranny ... I'll post a pic when the weather "trims out" warmer.

If you stumble across a set of cheap 6.4 manifolds and midpipes, they'll make noticable differance on it J,and don't require tuning. The cars aren't the nicest things to swap exhaust manifolds on,but still doable on a driveway with nothing more then normal hand tools and a floor jack. I've done the swap on the wifes old 16 Challenger, and when i put long tubes on the 1320,it's manifolds and midpipes went onto the 300,and i've done all of them on my driveway, and the cars 5.7 wakes up a fair bit with the better flowing 6.4 manifolds, they have the same basic choked off cast iron log manifolds as the trucks have, and according to my dealer,as long as they're stock 6.4 manifolds and catted midpipes the exhaust warrenty stays in place

Dubs copper was x4 meaning the accident was so bad his bearings were scuffed or scratched up. Sad the insurance opted to fix instead of total it, put him in impossible position. BTW, the same thing happened to me once with a truck I loved at the time. The cost to fix was 6800 and value was 7500 and they fixed it. It never drove the same, I traded it in on a bronco. Never looked back, that bronco was best vehicle ever.

Depending on how hard a vehicle is hit,and from what direction,it wouldn't be the first time i've seen connecting rods being bent from an accident. They're designed to handle vertical stresses, horizontal stresses like what an accident can impart will bend them, and then the bearings start to go south shortly afterwards

Ok, thanks for that bit of info, Rick.

The owners manual states 0w/20 oil ... I cant see where there is any difference in engines, with the Challenger's 5.7 HEMI vs my trucks 5.7 HEMI ...the oil filter is the larger one for the Challenger(MOPAR MO899), same filter as the truck 5.7's used as standard before the addition of the "oil heater" and electric power assist steering before 2013 model year.

Changing oil on the cars is a pleasure compared to the trucks, lol. The engine hasn't changed, just the milege numbers on the window sticker. They run just as good on 5W-30 as they do on 0W-20 :waytogo:

I had planned on using Red Line 5w/30 year round for the Challenger as I did on my truck and call it good.

This should make you smile, I give you Google ai....

According to many reports on car forums and discussions, Redline oil, particularly the 5W-30 viscosity, can significantly reduce or even eliminate the "Hemi tick" sound often heard in Dodge vehicles with Hemi engines, making it a popular choice for those experiencing this issue; however, it's not a guaranteed fix and may not work in all cases.

Well 2024 is a wrap, serious bad news for ram who a couple years ago was number two, lol. Sales down 18% ram brand.

  • Chevrolet Silverado: The second best-selling truck in the US, with 275,692 units sold.
  • Ram Pickups: The third best-selling truck in the US, with 179,526 units sold.
Other top-selling trucks in 2024 include:

  • Toyota Tundra: 78,454 units sold
  • GMC Sierra: 148,785 units sold
  • Ford Maverick: 77,113 units sold

Interesting video on the 4th gen heater core and why they plug up. I've noticed its more common on the Cummins trucks than the Hemi trucks and the EGR cooler may be why. Plus most people don't change their coolant unless they need to open the cooling system.

The 6.4 truck Hemi runs hot as well, the stock tstat is like something like 212* I believe and running that hot all the time is probably breaking down the coolant quicker.

Seeing as there's no reliable 180* tstats for the 5.7 that also have the plunger on the bottom to close off the recirc passage anymore, I think I'm going to do yearly rad drain/fills along with a heater core flush every other year after seeing this. I do NOT want to take my 12 year old plastic dash apart if I don't have to and it's so easy to do a drain/fill on these trucks.
