Very interesting because famously Pennzoil avoids dexos rating on this oil. But it is Pennzoils best and I lean towards PUP 5w30 at a buck fifty a quart more. What's the engine though?
For the 5.7 in my 300

Here is another video from Lake Speed Jr. with Super Tech oil which is quite interesting.

It's my understanding that the US Napa oil is differant then the Canuck Napa oil,but it sure looked like a decent oil in Lakes test. The Wally World Supertech oil didn't do to bad in that test, with a bottle of lubegard thrown in,it would appear to be a very good cheap oil.

Redline 14 a qrt Amazon, not sure you will ever see better price anymore. I'm warming up to do a test run of another oil, first time since I started using redline. Valvoline Extended? I have a bottle of lubegard as well. 5 bucks and change per quart 400ppm moly/165 boron 5w30. I'm thinking if this oil doesn't do a job on tick the real reason for the tick killing is poe base oil. I wont add the lubegard together, but wait and see how the VE does. I know Kyle loves the stuff in his hemi.

If I am going to pay north of ten dollars for any oil, it will be redline. If it ain't broke theory. But I respect what Valvoline is doing, man where did Smiley go? Valvoline pulled a trump, they made their oil great again. MOGA.

MEGA = Make Engines Great Again

I'd be ok with GDI if they added SPFI - that'd get rid of the sooting. They would regain some % fuel economy lost because GDI during rich burn (loaded engine) isn't stoichiometric AFR - they essentially 'close the choke' to lower AFR and add excess fuel because not enough atomizes with direct injection to burn. This engine load regime LOSES fuel economy! That's why Mitsubishi's vaunted 1990's "estimated" fuel economy increase of 20% was so bogus - it was based on STEADY STATE engine running conditions. Real world is only +5% fuel economy gain with GDI solo, along with a sooted, fuel-diluted engine. Hence the talk of adding a diaper to these engines.

GDI alone only saves fuel during light load engine regimes - it goes into lean burn mode with high AFR's.

EPA probably won't let automakers return to solely SPFI again because of the fuel economy mandates.

I wonder if the diesel makers have ironed bugs out of exhaust aftertreatment to lower costs and increase reliability? It'd still be the way to go for increased mileage.

Anyway, engine design directly affects oil requirements, which is why I rambled on.

BTW, the same group we allowed to set the policy on oil formulas and engines, now wants you to believe day light savings time is responsible for obesity, depression, heart attacks and strokes and several other bad things. These people will say anything. No no sweetheart, obesity is caused by stuffing your face full of food even when your full.

Hell, Mike - at this price they beat HPL - albeit on a temporary basis. I'm of a mind to stock up again.

Didn't Dave mention before he retired the oil is essential infinite shelf life if you don't pop the seal? It's all Group IV & V base oil - near fully saturated molecules, so the only thing is to keep out of the sun and moisture in the air?

Guys - careful with the Red Line low price Amazon vendor - the reviews are bad -

I didn't order from them, the recent reviews were so bad. $14.15/qt. For $14.82/qt I ordered from R.A.Hoerr, who I know is a valid vendor - I've bought from them before without issues, their reviews reflect this.

I only bought 2 boxes of 6 qts as I still might switch to HPL SC 0W-30. I never expected a sale like this again. We KNOW Red Line 5W-30 works, unless they messed with the formula after their move, which is why I bought some more.

You also have to watch out for counterfeit Redline. I got some questionable gallons off of Amazon a few years back. The labels were half in French and the viscosity listed in the French part was 0w20 when the rest of the label said 5w30.

I opened both immediately and both jugs had the sweet Redline smell. They turned out to be genuine Redline because my truck stayed quiet but it really got me thinking about how easy it would be to counterfeit Redline...

Yeah, that's why I didn't order from the lowball, odd duck outfit with bad reviews.
R.A. Hoerr is a legit distributor with thousands of top reviews.
If it sounds too good to be true, walk away.

Yeah same here. Those gallons I mentioned said "sold by and ships from Amazon.com". I figured that was pretty safe, but after that experience it was the last time I ordered RL from Amazon.

Now I either just suck it up and order directly from Redline or Jegs/Summit.
